Transparency and Diligence: What the Grassroots Must Do Regarding RNC Rule 12
Freedomworks.org ^ | Shane Wright

The past 48 hours has been a whirlwind of activity for grassroots activist across the nation, especially here in Tampa Bay. Activist have diligently pushed for state delegations to oppose proposed changes to RNC rules.

Last night there was great optimism after the RNC agreed to compromise on the rule changes in an effort to avoid a floor fight. Unfortunately as a result of that compromise, RNC proposed rule 12, which would allow the RNC to rewrite the rules post convention, free of delegate and grassroots influence, will likely stand.

This new rule could be a huge blow to the grassroots community, the RNC rules committee sets the parameters for how we as a party operate, how we establish the platform and how we choose candidates. Allowing the RNC to change the rules without our influence is a contingency plan for the RNC to keep the power to choose the direction of the GOP out of the hands of patriots like you and me.

You have to wonder if the GOP is unwittingly creating its eventual replacement.

I don’t want a third party as much as the GOP does.

Some folks would be happy to hand and foot cuff all Paul delegates and perp walk them out of the hall.

The intentional result of the GOP's 'Big Tent' push of 20 years ago.

Just shut up and sit down, conservatives.

I don’t know why people look at the Ron Paul cup as being half-empty instead of half-full.

On issues like spending, taxation, and the size of government the Paulanistas and tea partiers have more in common than not. Certainly—when it comes to economics—they have more in common with each other than they do with the GOP-e.

It may actually be time to start considering a third party. We will have to accept the fact that it may result in handing the first election to the RATs, but if that's the price that needs to be paid, then so be it.

I will vote for Mittens and no way in hell would I vote for Zero. Yes, I agree, a third party may be the only option to this madness.

Last paragraphs of the FreedomWorks article:

The reality is we must pay as much attention to the RNC as we do the DNC, our movement is threatened from both. We have made, and will continue to make a huge impact on the direction of the GOP. The RNC is terrified of our influence, they are worried that we are constantly lurking to hold them accountable to the will of the people, if they weren’t they would not be fighting so hard for rule 12.

As of 3:00pm EST today, according to journalist TP Carney, there appears to be an effort to gather signatures to push for a floor on the minority report. We'll keep working this story as breaking news happens.

I went to Eagle Forum's list of Rules Committee delegates and sent text messages to mine. I hope they are all getting messages, calls, emails, and that they do the right thing, or the GOP will wither as the RINOs send us elsewhere for proper representation.

So, how do we get Tea Party folks in these positions on the rules committee and the other places from which the GOPe is exerting force on the party?

Don’t you get it? You don’t. They can’t. Their role is to send money, vote, and shut up.

I didn’t say forgive Ron Paul (who, after this election cycle will be fading into the political sunset).

What I said was we should look on the positive side of his supporters. A group largely made up of young people who are economicly conservative and who think we should take the Constitution seriously (gasp).

Here is what has just been tweeted by Michelle Malkin -
“Thanks to Boehner’s deaf ears, minority reports squashed. Floor fight squashed. Mission accomplished, party bosses.”

Well, we don't anymore, apparently. Rule 12, among the other rules, were voted on, voice, definitely NOT unanimous, passed per Boehner. The GOPe can dump delegates and delegations and seat whoever they damn well please, it seems.

Shut up, send money, shut up, send more money and vote for who we tell you to vote for.

To hell with that.

It took me a long time to become even a little bit comfortable with the fact that we’re getting the Socialism Lite candidate. After the backstabbing of the entire conservative movement by the RINOs today, I am DONE with the RNC.

Obama is going to walk away with this election, because the GOP republicans were too stupid, too weak, and too in love with the effete platitudes of being lifetime poitical hacks.

I’ll be voting third party for the first time in my life this november.
