Cardinal Timothy Dolan has accepted an invitation to give the closing prayer at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., next week, which will also feature a nun in a speaking role.

Dolan, the archbishop of New York and president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, also will give the closing benediction at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., on Thursday.

When he accepted that invitation, Dolan said his appearance would be prayerful, not political, a sentiment reiterated by his spokesman in announcing his appearance at the DNC.

"It was made clear to the Democratic Convention organizers, as it was to the Republicans, that the Cardinal was coming solely as a pastor, only to pray, not to endorse any party, platform, or candidate," cardinal spokesman Joseph Zwilling said....

This makes it absolutely clear that while many scoffed at the new poll showing Obama has just 27% support among Catholics, the Obama campaign knows it was right on the money. Point made.

I am quite surprised he has chosen to support
the DNC-instigated MoslemBrotherhood crucifixions
of Christians in Egypt and elsewhere.

I’m baffled over this. Why would he cozy up to socialists and Muslims?

“the cardinal is going into the Belly of the Beast!”

An arduous penance, to say the least.

Didn’t the Obama campaign originally decline to have him appear?

Was Obama “Against it before he was for it”?

Following the example of Christ, going out and preaching to the Sinners.

Preaching to the sinners. Everyone needs redemption.

Dolan To Pray At Democratic National Convention

For what? If it’s not for the total destruction and elimination of the Demonic Party on Earth, why waste a single second of time around those perverts, communists, sodomites, and lunatics?

Well, let's hope so. I will lose all respect for Cardinal Dolan if he fails to include an overt pro-life statement in his remarks to the Dems.

Y'know, I'm kinda glad that he is going to pray at the DNC.

And I hope that whatever prayer he gives, his prayer will convince God to reach down to the DNC and belt them all upside the head with the Almighty 2x4 of Awareness, and they realize what fools they are, and promptly turn on Obammy, Nazi Pelosi, Dingy Harry, and every other Democrap in positions of power.

That would be just dandy.

Don’t preach to the choir. Go where the sinners are.

When he accepted that invitation, Dolan said his appearance would be prayerful, not political

I don't know how you can attend a purely political event like this and not have your appearance be interpreted as political, especially when the press is in bed with the Democrats.

His appearance will clearly be interpreted widely as representing Catholic approval of the Democrat position on gay marriage, abortion, denial of religious freedom, and all the rest of it.

Of course, he could cause a stir by speaking out against abortion and gay marriage, but that seems extremely unlikely in a closing prayer that is "not political."

Bad idea.

Wouldn’t he better off just excommunicating all the pro-abortion “Catholics” at the Democrat Convention?

I just lost respect for Dolan by his panned appearance at the Democratic Convention. The lives of the unborn are more important then political points.

I lose more and more respect for this political hack Dolan each time I hear his name mentioned.

And I am certain the nun will be a pro-abortion nun.

Dolan speaking in front Obama means he will not say a word about Obama’s attack on religious freedom this. This is all pathetic.
