MBTA Transit Police have arrested a man and two women for allegedly beating and kicking a mentally disabled man on the Downtown Crossing Station Orange Line platform early Monday, officials said Tuesday.

Authorities said Carlito Rezende, of Dorchester, a 40-year-old man with schizoaffective disorder who has a restricted ability to communicate with people, injected himself into a conversation he overheard, telling a group of people not to use the word “hate.”

Don't say "hate." Perhaps the authorities won't say "hate crime."

Of course I am going to be tagged as a racist for my comment. I say that we have a culture that is failing in the raising of the next generation. There is a deficit of a moral code and the result are human savages with no sense of right and wrong.

According to the Boston Herald (another newspaper): One of the suspects was described as a heavy-set white woman wearing a blue tank top, white and gray plaid shorts, with short dark hair and tattoos on both of her calves.

"Heavy-set." That may be a hate crime in itself. :-)

Sorry, this description sounds like your average smug, over-educated, under-intelligent, self-rightous Lefty college professor. He wouldn't keep his fat gaping trap shut, and got mal-thumped when he intruded into something that was none of his concern.

Time was when I would do the same, then I entered junior high...

The guy’s doctor should have introduced and emphasized “minding your own business”, “keeping your mouth shut” and “don’t stare at strangers” into the therapy. I don’t condone beatings, but really, if you’re going to treat someone with a social disorder, prioritize the treatment steps for their own safety.

I agree jon, but I would like to humbly offer that its “generationS” now.

When you have been raised to believe you are expendable, have no self worth, that you should hate everyone, then you will have no conscience that will keep you from slaughtering others on a whim.

We have a certain segment of our society in America who does not punish each other for what are, ultimately, minor transgressions, by way of rebuke or scorn. Or even a healthy rap in the mouth.

They shoot or stab each other in the limbs as punishment, and to them, it’s normal.

And that singular disdain for pain and suffering has translated lately to outside of their normal environs, more and more. Hence, this is why people are arming themselves as never before and routinely telling the government, who has yet to give a tinkers damn, that they (the government) are as ineffectual as teats on a boar hog.

Even now, some police are braving possible backlash from their departments and speaking the truth.

I may be more of a part of the culture than a “tactic”, per se,

but I see a pattern. You have “young people” of a certain demographic behaving in a way that calls attention to themselves and is what the majority society would consider “uncivil” - very loud/profane talking in public, littering, indecent/sloppy clothing, etc. If someone they would like to target, say, a “pale face” says something to them about it, it’s an excuse for a beating, because that person just “dissed” them.

I’d say, unless you’re open carrying, that you refrain from any such comment on “young people’s” behavior, because they will be baiting you.

It also appears, according to pattern, that these attacks will only happen if they outnumber their victims by at least 3 to 1.

You have a point. But would he have received a beating from someone raised in a two-parent, middle-class, societally integrated, traditional values household for merely “sticking his nose in another conversation”?

The worst he would have gotten was a disdaining look.

No, you’re right, he wouldn’t. But this was Boston. The boundaries are different in different places.
