Interview with Virgil Goode: How Do We Elevate Constitutional Principles?
Forbes ^ | 28 Aug 12 | Bill Flax

Posted on 08/29/2012 6:46:58 AM PDT by xzins

...Virgil Goode has long supported a bill to audit the Federal Reserve, which recently cleared the House. He advocates “currency that is real and backed by gold or silver.”

Goode champions “fair and equitable opportunity, but it’s up to you to use it. Government cannot ensure equal results because every individual differs;”

An ardent proponent of balancing the budget, our deficits Goode insists, stem from “spending.” “Taxes should be simple and fair … I’m not for increasing income taxes; if we even have an income tax.”

The candidate laments “too much federal involvement in our lives” offering as an example the Department of Education, “should not be involved, schooling should be determined by states and localities …

“Government forcibly redefining marriage to include anything other than one man and one woman would be totally foreign to the views of the framers of the Constitution, first ten amendments and Declaration of Independence.”

Goode denies that the Founders, men of “deep-seated values,” would consider a cross on the town square or the Ten Commandments posted at school “as un-constitutional... public displays “aren’t forcing religion on anyone,

He adamantly opposed our Libyan debacle

Goode implores “following the Constitution, we can’t let the UN decide” clarifying “I don’t mind working with allies like we did in World War One and Two, but I’d never let U.S. troops serve under UN command. ...

“I’m totally opposed to illegal immigration and will put a moratorium on new Green Cards until unemployment reduces. Jobs should [go] to U.S. citizens first.” Goode would “eliminate automatic birthright citizenship”

Going the third party route is admittedly precarious ... unless living in a key battleground state, it’s unlikely your vote matters much. Likewise, for the many voters (that) might stay home, pulling the lever for Goode seems sound.

You forgot one,

Romney & Ryan have a legitimate shot at throwing out that Kenyan SOB, and Virgil Goode does NOT.

A vote for Goode is a vote for Goode. As he points out he's attracting just as many conservative independents and conservative democrats as conservative republicans. So, he takes equally from both parties. Those, of course, that he attracts in places like California or New York don't matter anyway, because Calif and NY are such bastions of the democratic party that they vote dem by rote and not by anything else, certainly not by thought.

In addition to us being so far down the road that a new party is necessary, there is this view that ABO republicans should consider:

Two things about ABOs who claim they'll hold Romney's feet to the fire and win back the party after the election:

1. They are not effectively holding Romney's feet to the fire:... in just the past week he's come out for Romneycare again and also for a "health" exception in allowing abortions.

2. The election:

IF ROMNEY WINS: He will be the head of the party, his METHODS will be lauded as effective, he will install the leaders, and he will set the agenda.

IF ROMNEY LOSES: He and his will be shown to be losers, his methods will be proven totally illegitimate, the party will be in turmoil, the leadership will be shakey and defeatable.

Which scenario will provide the best opportunity for conservatives to change the power structure?

Which scenario will entrench liberal republicanism for decades?

It's that simple.

I agree. The train has left the station. It's snowing, visibility is zero, and the bridge it out.
Who the conductor is no longer matters.

I got an news flash for you, it ain't the conductor that runs the train. It's the ENGINEER, and you can stick with the moron in the cab running the locomotive from a teleprompter, or you can put the only other engineer up on the controls in hopes of preventing a massive train wreck.

But you go right ahead and give 0bama your default vote by throwing the lever for either Goode, Johnson, or some other fringe candidate. Enjoy the view from the FEMA train when 0bama in his second term decides to round all the conservative dissidents up as national security 'risks'.

Amen GSC. If you’re going to vote for some clown who won’t get any electoral action, way settle? Grow a pair and vote for yourself. Anything less is compromise.

Wrong. We are either going to have a fast train wreck, or a slow one. Either way, we're off the rails and falling into the gorge.

Gee... Maybe we should have stuck with the guys offering plane tickets...

The only thing off the rails is your reasoning and common sense, so go on and vote for 0bama and be done with it.

If you're too stupid to recognize the difference, there is nothing I, or anyone else can say that will open up your eyes.

You SPEAK OF a difference between Willard-the-Conservative-backstabber
and Obama the Moslem Tyrant .... but are unable to state one.

Fact is, they are the exact same in so many ways.

Obama ... Romney .... Obama .... Soros .... Romney

If RINO Romney (author of gay marriage AND death panels)
wins, America the free loses.

ROMNEY is the white Obama.

conscience preacher

Why would it matter if one big government, pro-abortion, pro-homosexualism, pro-gun control, wins over another just like him?

I've got nothing on my conscience if I vote my principles:

Incidentally, the Apostle Paul rejects the idea of doing evil for a supposedly good purpose. Romans 3: "--"Let us do evil that good may result"? Their condemnation is deserved.

So, it is contrary to Christian teaching for me to kill a few babies myself in order to prevent a bigger baby killer.

In short, the lesser of two evils is still evil, but it's more than that...it's condemned.

I'm voting for smaller, more Constitutional government. Why aren't you? Why do you like bigger government and less freedom? Why do you support higher taxes, more Federal control over health care, abortion, gun control, and a continuation of insider politics?

Why do you want to vote against everything that made our Country great to begin with?

I believe the Green ticket this year is Stein/Honkala. It might very well garner more votes than the Constitution Party. Both are entirely irrelevant and, as you point out, likely cancel each other out. There are dead-enders and hardheads in each election cycle that sit our or waste their votes on 3rd party's. These people end up making no different, no one remembers their efforts and no one really cares.
