Deaf child's sign language name looks too much like gun, parent says school told him

Updated at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday ET: Deaf 3-year-old Hunter Spanjer of Nebraska signs his first name with a gesture resembling a gun, and his parents say his school wants him to stop. School officials say they haven't asked any deaf students to change how they sign their names.

The preschooler's father, Brian Spanjer, took to Facebook Sunday to garner support to allow his son to continue using the S.E.E. (Signing Exact English) symbol at the Early Learning Center he began attending last week. The Facebook page, "Let this Deaf Child Keep His Name Sign," had more than 5,300 likes by early Wednesday.

Remember, those folks have degrees in “education.”

And trusting individuals actually put these cretins in charge of their children.

‘Nuff said.

“This gun brought to you by the ASL letter “L”.”

...and then they locked the school down and brought in Social workers to meet with the children.

Schools can’t teach kids to read... and this is what they’re upset about? God help us...

The logical end result of this is that all people named hunter, which evokes mental imagery of a gun, whether first or last name, should change their name.

So should any one else with any kind of controversial sylable in their name. That would include Gunter (Gun), Dickson (D*ck - sexual), Black (racial), Burns (negative imagery), Hunt (gun related), Palmer (touching potentially sexual), Stone (drug related, executions), Armstrong (suggests physical inequality), Peters (sexual), Bishop (Religious), Larson (Theft), Fowler (Unsportsmanlike conduct), Byrd (Offensive sign), Graves (Death), Sharp (too close to knife), Cross (Religious), Cannon, etc...

Click on the keyword "zero tolerance" and you will find hundreds of examples of this sort of nonsense in every area of the country--the rural South, the Rocky Mountains, Midwestern farm towns, urban slums, bedroom communities--you name it.

Seems that if you go to ed school, it will dumb you down and make you impervious to common sense.

The offending name:

The school district is backing down on the name issue, but may make him learn ASL.

Arthur Gardner Coons was president of Occidental College in Los Angeles (on the western slope of Fiji Hill) from 1946 to 1965. The administration building was named in his honor, as was a street on the campus, Coons Rd.

Last year, a group of student "activists" complained that because "coon" was once a racial slur, the name "Coons Rd." is racist. They demanded that the street be renamed--and they got their way. It was changed to Arthur G. Coons Rd., but the sign reads "AGC Rd."

If we go down that path, that list is gonna grow.

Maybe “Citizen 4320532” will be non-controversial. But we’d have to exclude any combination that resembles guns of “357”, “45”, “38”. And of course drug related numbers like “420”. Or sexual slang “69”. etc.

This is emblematic of the George Zimmerman and Todd Akin situations.

They way to combat this PC CRAP is to address it when you first see or hear it. Literally, LOL, laugh in their faces. Say, “you can't be serious”. “WHAT?” say it LOUD, so all around you can hear. “C’mon man, you really don't believe that, do you?” “You're not falling for that are you?”. You're too intelligent to believe those lies”.

I had a fellow card player mention to me that fracking was causing earthquakes. Without even thinking about it, I burst into laughter. I could tell by the look on his face, that he was not in agreement. I said to him, “Oh, you were serious weren't you”? I then went on to inform him how there are THOUSANDS of earthquakes EVERY DAY and a website he should visit to show him. He wasn't able to continue to spread his propaganda.

The preschooler’s father should teach the School Officials a new hand sign in answer to their insane demand; Slap the left hand down on the right elbow while forcefully raising the bent elbow and forearm/clenched fist upward !

Uhm, I don’t know if you meant to or not, but apparently Kevin Bacon has pledged to change his name, because “Bacon” makes Muslims uncomfortable. Again, apparently not satire.
