Rush Limbaugh: I'm 'literally going insane' By: Kevin Robillard August 29, 2012 03:52 PM EDT

Rush Limbaugh slammed Karl Rove on Wednesday and said he was “literally going insane” over GOP strategists’ advice that the party not attack President Barack Obama during their convention.

“Do you want to talk about the overall tone of the convention?” Limbaugh facetiously asked his radio show audience. “Do you want me to say, ‘My gosh, what a bunch of wimps. Don’t even have the guts to mention Obama’s name. Christie didn’t have the guts to mention his name?’ Do you want me to tell you how this bunch seems to be afraid to be critical of a party that’s destroying the country? Or do you agree with the party, ‘No, we don’t need to mention that because everybody already knows it and we’re trying to attract swing voters, and they don’t want to hear that stuff?’”

The conservative talker signaled out Karl Rove, the Bush administration political guru who leads several outside spending groups, and Ed Rollins, who managed Rep. Michele Bachmann’s failed GOP primary bid this year, for criticism.

Rollins said on Fox News that ignoring Obama’s record was “the perfect way to go” since most voters are already familiar with it. Rove agreed with Democratic strategist Joe Trippi when he made a similar statement.

“Where was the beef?” Limbaugh implored. “Where was the red meat? There wasn’t any. Everybody doesn’t know about Obama’s terrible record! I’m gonna tell you something. Mr. Rollins, if everybody knew Obama’s record, he’d be down 20 points.”

You must not be from New England. There, independents are pretty much just Democrats who don’t vote regularly.

Portland, Maine here.

I wasn't really looking at it from the perspective of a New Englander but from a national perspective. Otherwise I would have made the same conclusion as you did.

I wish NewsMex or even better CNS would start their own TV News Network on cable.

I’m interested in the Big Enchilada where they’re out and not coming back. Do you know what I mean? I don’t want to just say, “hey, it’s cool now, they’re gone.”

I want investigations with all seriousness and overdue diligence. I’d want no apologies given on the people’s behalf and I would offer none. I want evidence published and verdicts delivered post-haste!

I want it in history books for future reference and documents filed in the National Archive......and I want to see the USA in my Chevrolet, not in a package of socialist propoganda.

They’ve made it almost impossible to even try to be nice about it anymore...In fact, they’re very close to making it so that nice guys really DO finish last.

Well said. Agree 100%.

Karl Rove knows how to entrench the power of the RINOs. That’s his allegiance, that’s all he’s good for, and he is absolutely the wrong guy to follow at this point in our country’s history.

"Karl Rove doesn't know how to defend against the leftwing attack machine. That's why Bush remained silent about all the leftist attacks during his administration, thus allowing the left to control the narrative, and directly leading to the inability of the Republicans to beat Obama in 2008."

I agree with this statement, but the rest, not so much.

Rush should have listened to Niki Haley, she impaled Obama with grace and panache.

The best way to win this election with a large margin is to run on 0bama’s record. Unemployment up above 8% for 42+ months now, 0bmacare, Dodd-Frank, $16 trillion dollar deficits. All are fair game and will sink 0bama.

Things are so bad that 0bama won’t even use his record to campaign but personal attacks and fear. Go after Dems with TRUTH about their record. Hit them where it hurts, in the wallet when they find themselves unemployed.

Yes, the speech was weak. If our side can’t even make an effective attack with the keynote speaker then we’re done. It’s the same ol’ same ol’ play it safe defense.

Just about any of Christie’s points could be effectively countered by dems although I doubt they will waste time trying. One effective dem response to Christie’s theme of telling the truth to the American people would be for them to bring out Jack Nicholson in full military regalia, put up a picture of Romney on the screen and have Nicholson belt out “you can’t handle the truth ...”

Susana, Condi and Wisconsin’s own Paul Ryan brought it home tonight and made up for Christie’s “shortcomings”.

Ok, I agree with all you say. We are on the same page, we just have a different idea of how to get where we want to go.

The biggest obstacle to seeing justice done for the crimes against this Nation by the Administration is the seemingly total ignorance of the general public.

If heads must roll, the powers-that-be shouldn’t be concerned with who among us may not understand what they’d be about to witness.

What you are saying is those who administer justice ought not be concerned with re election. While i agree with you I know this will never happen.

The easy solution is term limits. They remove the burden of continuously campaigning for re election from the official freeing him to do what he was elected to do in the first place.

Of course expecting the politicians to pass a law on term limits is tantamount to circulating a petition in the hen house asking them f they want to have their heads cut off or let the fox in.

Ah yes...the easy way out may indeed be the only way out and it’s just like you say-

It’s like going to a Comedy Central Celebrity Roast and being surpised by the crudeness and vulgarity...

I could go on but I think we can agree that we have to be more careful of where we place our priorities in the matter of electing a new POTUS.
