As I have expressed in the past, authentically Catholic and genuinely Pro-Life, Paul Ryan not only knows Catholic Social Doctrine, he maintains that he actively seeks to integrate the principles it offers into his own public service and the policy proposals he offers

Ryan's opponents efforts to demonize him and think they can deflect the American public from listening to his considered positions on the vital issues and challenges we face as a Nation will not only fail, I now believe they will backfire. Ryan's demeanor is warm, human and real - a refreshing change in a political atmosphere polluted with vitriol, vapid detraction and denigration. He lifts up the listener while he speaks truth to a Nation struggling through a desperate hour. He gives the listener hope that they, with good and effective leadership, can actually rebuild the American promise and re-secure the American dream for their children. In short, he dispenses hope in an hour when it is in short supply.

Exceptional speech and yep I am proud to be a Catholic, conservative, American, father, brother, son, husband, FREEPER and so many other things. Last night really gave me a lot of hope that Ryan may just be what our country needs for the future. It is crazy that he is 2 years younger than I am and has such a great vision for the country.

I expect Biden is going to “have a heart attack” or something pretty soon, and retire.

Sarah Palin made mincemeat of Biden in the 2008 debates, but the media played her as being dumb, uninformed, a stupid hick from Alaska etc. while Biden was portrayed as know legible, had years of Washington experience, personally knew foreign leaders etc. Don't think that the media won't do the same hatchet job to Ryan even if he very likely makes Biden look like a blithering idiot.

He said that his digital playlist runs “from ACDC to Peppelin.” Doesn’t sound like a sherry-and-harpsichord conservative.

I made my daughters (13 and 16) watch it with me, mostly because I think there’s a fair chance that Ryan will be POTUS one day. Also I’m trying to instill conservative principles before they go off to college and get indoctrinated with liberal ideology.

Condi won them over - she was fantastic. And then Ryan was terrific also - and his speech generated some lively conversation in our living room.

Let’s remember, FReeps, the importance of US teaching our children about the conservative principles for which we stand. They’ll be running the show sooner than you think.

Ryan Speech was an 11 on a scale of 1-10. Wife and I were wondering if they'll move BLAIR HOUSE (the VP resident) to Janesville.

If I got elected VP, I would NOT live in WASHINGTON, DC.

Ryan is not the shot caller.

I like him a lot and yes he talks the red meat we all like on social issues too when unleashed.

Problem is that is not Romney nor the GOP leadership now.

Aside from a few bones like Ryan, this convention is the most moderate on social issues I have seen in my adult life and I am 54.

and aside from Ryan's fiery rhetoric they aren't throwing 10 percent what they did at Newt and others

folks here as is often the case...see one thing they like and get excited and then generalize about the whole enchilada like it is so great

it's not...Romney is not great..in fact he sucks

It is a shame he is all we got under the tree this election but it is what it is.

We don't have to start thinking his election is the second coming, we just unfortunately have to vote for him but we don't have to like it and turn his Ryan pick into some fantasy that it is all just so wonderful.

Not me anyhow.

"We can do this," the best line in the speech.

It won’t matter, because in the debate, Biden will get softballs and they’re throw asteroids at Ryan.

Well Romney did a smart thing announcing the Ryan pick early - over two weeks before the convention. I think that caught the Obama campaign off guard and by the time they mounted their attacks, Ryan had already made his first impression on the American people and assumed the offensive by turning the Medicare issue against Obama instead of the other way around. So coming into the convention, the Ryan pick was already old news and he has established himself as a formidable running mate.

Thus Romney-Ryan are going to come out of this convention with all the momentum and Obama is going to have to do something spectacular to get back in the game. Such as dumping Biden for Hillary or going to war with Iran (as he very well might do if his re-election is on the line).

Good news is that I don't think even Hillary or Iran can help him at this point. Dumping Biden will be a sign of desperation and going to war with Iran will piss off a lot of his base.
