That’s where the gaffe part comes in, dummy.

Last week I wrote of the Conservative Circular Firing Squad.

It's time the Akin supporters move on from the rape comment and target the real opposition, Claire.

Ironically, the only people talking about those stupid comments now are his own supporters and the democrats trying to use it as an example of the republican's "war on women".

Akin made a mistake. He admitted it and has apologized. Time to move on - anything less only hurts not helps Congressman Akin.

It’s pretty clear from this thread that his critics haven’t moved on and they are still talking about it. The GOP isn’t called The Stupid Party for nothing.

And I don't blame them when Akin's supporters continue to blame others for Akin's own statements. The "critics" are now responding, not initiating.

We're conservatives. We do not run around blaming others for our own failures. Time for Akin supports to target the real opposition because if he loses he owns that defeat.

My advice is for Akin supporters to stop keeping the rape comments alive.

You're right. I'm more interested in keeping the issue of GOP corruption and thuggery alive.

"There were talking point memos sent from the National Republican Senatorial Committee suggesting language to urge Akin to drop out. Political consultants were ordered to stay away from Akin or lose future business with GOP committees. Operatives were recruited to set up a network of pastors to call Akin to urge him to get out. Money has changed hands to push him off the plank."

But but but, we were told that Huckabee just made all this stuff up!

Romney's GOP is acting like union thugs and yet people think they're going to be some renaissance of conservative values.

Rove makes Akin murder joke

So "shut it down" was just a 'gaffe' for "diminish"? Dubious on its face - and even if true begs the question of what kind of person is so multiply gaffe-prone on such a volatile topic.

The difference between Akin/Rubio is that the femi-nazis went nuts over Akin, whereas the Left loves despotic government and was therefore quiet over Rubio’s gaffe.

Another difference is that Akin's idea that rape "shuts down" a woman's reproductive system is idiotic - and was not (even by Akin's account, I hear) a simple misspeaking.

As soon as I heard it watching FOX’s replay of the speech (got home too late for the live airing) I had to rewind the DVR to see if I was hearing things. I’m HOPING it was a gaffe. But you never know with the Romney wing of the party. Might’ve been a Freudian slip.

He explained that for those who flunked high school biology.
I guess he didn't have any crayon-drawn graphics though.

Prove it - post a link to that explanation. Otherwise I call Bravo Sierra.

“PC rules the GOP, not me.”

In my case principles, intellect and ethics rule me, not PC. One of these days you’ll learn to accept that not all conservatives think exactly the way you want them to think.

Yeah, I noted that gaffe. Rubio got excited and actually mispoke and the Convention and conservs will forgive him because all of other words were spot on. He is a yound conserv with more common sense than any of the leftist doofuses that make up the DNC ilk. Oh, does that include you???

The biggest damage Akin can do to the Republican party and RINOS is to prove that elections can be won withOUT their help.

I want to add somethng:

The biggest thing Akin can do for the Republican Establishment and the RINOsand hurt the conservative movement is to lose the election against Claire.

The biggest damage Akin can do to the Republican Establishment and RINOS is to prove that elections can be won withOUT their help.

I disagree. And Akin was talking about abortion, he wasnt advocating rape. The inconsistency is glaring. Rubio can make a gaffe about more govt and can be instantly understood. The hostility towards proLife Conservatives is disturbing.

Gee, thanks for calling this to my attention. I didn’t notice the gaffe.

It doesn’t seem to corellate at all to Akin’s comments.

Have fun with it.

There is no inconsistency whatsoever. Rubio’s gaffe was not while discussing rape - a much, much more sensitive subject. There was also no ludicrous claim about women’s bodies shutting down a pregnancy - something he clearly meant to say and was not merely making an error in transposing words - no comparison whatsoever - grasping at straws, to say the least, to compare this to Rubio’s error. That also has absolutely nothing to do with “hostility” towards pro-life conservatives - quite the opposite. Anyone who wants him to be able to be used to brand the pro-life movement doesn’t care much for its credibility.
