Rove makes Akin murder joke

In a closed-door fundraiser at the Republican National Convention, Karl Rove reportedly joked about the murder of Missouri GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin.

“We should sink Todd Akin. If he’s found mysteriously murdered, don’t look for my whereabouts!” joked Rove, according to a Businessweek report of the fundraiser.

Sheelah Kolhatkar, an editor for Bloomberg Businessweek, was invited to the event as a guest of top Republican donor who was aware she was a journalist. The invite gave her a behind-the-scenes look at the otherwise-private event.

At the event, Rove urged attendees to urge Akin to get out of the race, citing Missouri’s Senate race as a major obstacle to Republicans taking over the Senate.

“We have five people who are interested” in replacing Akin as the Senate candidate, Rove said. “We don’t care who the nominee is, other than get Akin out.”

Rove and other top Republicans called on Akin to leave the race after his controversial comments two weeks ago on “legitimate rape” and his mistaken comment about how conception through rape rarely occurs.

It’s against federal law to threaten a sitting Congressman. He should be picked up an questioned about this threat.

YEP -- especially in the midst of an ongoing FBI investigation into threats and intimidation against the Akin staff in Missouri and Washington DC.

Where are the calls for his resignation???

Yeah, and I guess Missouri has become the plantation. Talked with my daughter in Washington State yesterday. She had not even heard of the Akin situation.

Rove said... “We don’t care who the nominee is, other than get Akin out.”

Rove doesn’t care who the candidate is? Nonsense. He most certainly does care. Who does he think he’s fooling?

http://uscode.house.gov/download/pls/18C41.txt ~ says it’s a class 4 felony punishable with up to 5 years in a federal prison. These things are not jokes. BTW, be careful how you post news about such things or even almost successful assassins now running loose in this country ~ no one will read your post carefully and next thing you know the administrator is going to be up to his or her eyebrows in complaints that YOU, not somebody else, is threatening to kill someone. Here it’s Karl Rove seeming to make a threat. It’s reported in Yahoo and Washington Post, and lord only knows where else.

http://uscode.house.gov/download/pls/18C41.txt ~ just to remind you what it’s all about. Rove just did horrid things to the pooch ~ unmentionable ~ terrible. I think I told you he and his running dog lackeys are enemies of Conservatism and they hate us so bad they are willing to take down the entire Republican party just to get rid of us. This was a calculated statement to discredit everyone.

I think of Rove as one of the crazies, and wonder how we can get him to go quietly into the sunset, like his boss. I know education isn’t everything, and sometimes it is a detriment, but in Rove’s case, a little education would be good, and maybe it would allow him to have a life outside of Republican politics.

Here ya go! Tell him. Lots of people should let this piece of garbage mouth know that he needs to retire with Gore now and he was probably the main problem with GW Bush. Man, makes me very cautious about who I go to for advice.

The GOPe threw my congressman overboard in 08 calling him a lost cause after voting against TARP twice.

Rove's job is to keep the crony capitalist big money donors happy with bailouts, tax breaks and assorted stimuli, so that they funnel the cash back to the GOP and Rove can try to buy elections. Luckily, conservatives can't be bought, and are able to foil his plans in Congressional primaries where the dumb sheep voters who can be fooled by flashy ads don't vote. Rove's influence and power over the big money donors is taking a hit because of that, which only makes him want to destroy us more. The informed, principled voter is Rove's worst enemy. They're a threat to his business model.

Karl’s friends mentioned John Ashcroft ~ former Senator from MO and currently law partner with Johnny Sutton the crazoid prosecutor who put Ramos and Campeon in prison for shooting at a dope peddler on the border. People like Rove, Sutton and Ashcroft can’t be trusted.

It is obvious by now....Todd Akin is being attacked because of his beliefs, not his so-called comments

The Pro-Abort Liberals...will they call for Fox to fire Karl Rove...and stop supporting candidates he helps....like Marco Rubio, the Bushes, etc....

Real Conservatives support Todd Akin. If you don’t, you can kiss Karl Rove’s...

And here it is from Businessweek:

“He also detailed plans for Senate and House races, and joked, “We should sink Todd Akin. If he’s found mysteriously murdered, don’t look for my whereabouts!”

Then Rove pleaded with his audience for more money — much more.”
