TAMPA, August 31, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney delivered his acceptance speech at the GOP convention Thursday night, laying out his vision for a Romney presidency.
Mr. Chairman, delegates. I accept your nomination for president of the United States of America, Romney said. I do so with humility, deeply moved by the trust you have placed in me. It is a great honor. It is an even greater responsibility.
In a speech focusing mainly on the countrys economic quandary and his own life history, Romney inserted a reference to social issues, pledging to protect life and marriage if made president.
As president, I will protect the sanctity of life. I will honor the institution of marriage.”
In a reference to the HHS mandate, he said, “And I will guarantee Americas first liberty: the freedom of religion.
Romney also touted his wifes role as the mother of five boys, saying that even as he was working building his business, I knew that her job as a mom was harder than mine. And I knew without question, that her job as a mom was a lot more important than mine.
Earlier this year, a Democratic advisor provoked a media firestorm after criticizing Ann Romneys decision to be a stay-at-home. Hilary Rosen told CNNs Anderson Cooper that Mrs. Romney, has actually never worked a day in her life, echoing a similar charge Teresa Heinz Kerry made against Laura Bush in 2004.
Mrs. Romney rose to her own defense, tweeting, I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work.
In last nights speech Romney also renewed his pledge to repeal and replace Obamas health care reform law, conventionally known as “ObamaCare,” a law that has been heavily criticized by pro-life leaders for funding abortion.
Ronald Reagan, the best US President of the 20th century.
IF Romney and Ryan mean what they said during the convention and live and govern accordingly, I stand by what I said.
If it was just political speech, then nothing has changed and we're only slightly less screwed than with obama.
But, admittedly, slightly less is an enormous improvement.
Once again, Romney reminds us why we detest him. How many millions of people have to scream it to him -- we want government OUT of our health care decisions!
BS
His speech was the biggest generic nothing, and he threw out exactly one sentence about protecting life, marriage, and the sanctity of life. He made no attempt to explain his lifelong record of opposing all three. Not saying you shouldn’t vote for him given the alternative, but I am not drinking the Kool Aid.
Did Romney actually say WHAT he will do to protect family/life/religious freedom?
Will he reverse DADT? Will he actually expend political capital and take political flak for aggressively pushing Fed Marriage Amendment? Will he undo hate crime legislation?
What exactly is his game plan for reversing Roe v Wade?
I don’t think he means any of it, just an empty suit reading a script.
Bet he'll be glad when the inaugural is over and he can go back to 'normal'.
Say, where are those people saying we'll hold his feet to the fire? Disappeared did they?
He rescues kittens and loves puppies too.
A good question. Thanks to Romney, they probably won't be able to do it as 2016 convention delegates. If the Republican Party lasts that long.
Where do you get a Reagan out of a 66 year old man with decades in politics, who has been a hard core liberal all of his life, and who despises Reagan and conservatism?
The man has already gone back to being pro-abortion, he reveled that the other day.
Romney is an ideologue, a liberal one.
Mitt Romney: “I’m not a partisan politician. My hope is that, after this election, it will be the moderates of both parties who will control the Senate, not the Jesse Helmses.”
WILLIAM WELD: I had supported Mitt Romney for the nomination in 2008” but when Romney dropped out he switched to Obama.
When Mitt couldn’t win, Weld naturally switched to Obama, think about that.
Mitt Romney is William Weld’s protege.
Mitt lost in 2008 so Weld supported Obama, Mitt is the nominee today and considers William Weld his mentor, and Weld naturally endorsed his protege.
“I think Bill Weld comes as close as anyone,” Romney said when asked whom in his party he aligned with.
Thank you for your post. Seems you have already decided to vote for Obama. That’s just great ... grow government even more and kowtow to the Russians.
So ... you're sticking with your vote for Obama.
Did you even listen to either Romney or Ryan over the past two weeks? Judging from your comment, the answer is "no". That would explain your comment which is based on ignorance of the Medicare situation and their plan to rescue it.

Hmmmmm ~ strange stuff hoppen eh
Yes did you? Mitt has already reverted back to pro-abortion,he has declared himself 'health of the mother' on abortion. Did you know that he was pro-abortion ?
August 27 (CBS News) In an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, Mitt Romney said his views on abortion rights are more lenient than those put forward in the Republican party platform.
My position has been clear throughout this campaign, Romney said. Im in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother.

Great, but what about the kids? He’s said over and over he approves of sodomite adoption and of their presence in the Boy Scouts.
The key thing is what he will be saying and doing 3 years from now.
I will be hopeful he won't get us angry too often!
LOL! I love that cat.
Hey, stay on topic.
This is about Romney and his support for abortion, how do you not get that.
Support Romney I don’t care, just know he is pro-abortion.
Inconvenience is known to cause headaches,...
