Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy meets with college leaders about LGBT issues

With Chick-fil-A fights breaking out on campuses across the country, including several in North Texas, company CEO Dan Cathy reportedly met with college leaders to discuss LGBT issues in Atlanta on Thursday.

It was Cathy whose anti-gay comments earlier this summer sparked the protest.

The details of Thursday’s meeting were brief and given by an unnamed source, but centered around “diversity, hospitality, and the opportunity to find common ground,” according to the source.

Cathy is trying to repair relationships with colleges in an effort to further expansion plans for more on-campus locations across the country, many at large schools.

The University of North Texas was the first of five area colleges to start a petition calling for the university to remove the restaurant from its student union. UTA later followed and members of UTA’s GSA are preparing to present the petition and a resolution to school officials.

SMU officials have already said they would not remove the restaurant from its campus. Kim Schroder, UNT’s associate director of retail dining services, told its student newspaper that the on-campus location wasn’t going anywhere soon.

Schroder said the petitions from a UNT student and a separate one created by an alumnus have not affected business, and the university’s five-year contract with the company would make removing it soon impossible.

Mr Cathy, please remember:

Queers: "We are the 2-3%."

Are they really worth the effort? I can guarantee you the queers' attitude is not going to change. Will yours? I hope not.

If Cathy caves, I fear that his big, new, following will cave, too.

Sometimes when some one, or group is pushing hard, best thing to do is to move aside and let them fall on their face.

I would just shut the campus locations Dow, help the franchisees relocate off campus, and let the “students” survive on lunchroom food.

I agree with you. Let the campus ones go, focus on different locations. And don’t make concessions. This is how gay marriage became so accepted: Too many people in the forefront made concessions.

I don’t think he’s going to concede anything. The Left-wing media has continuously misrepresented his original statement from the get-go. The meeting is probably just to clarify what his position is.

I’m sure many of these dolts truly believe that Cathy doesn’t want to serve “gays and lesbians” when nothing cold be further from the truth.

It was Cathy whose anti-gay comments earlier this summer sparked the protest.

This is a LIE and I'm so sick of seeing it repeated ad nauseum.

Cathy made NO "anti-gay" comments whatsoever. And he didn't spark any protest -- his words in support of marriage were taken out of context as a convenient way for the queer agenda-pushers, esp. the ones in the State Run Media, to smear conservatism and capitalism. The only "controversy" was the one they INVENTED.

He’ll say “I make chicken. Do you like chicken?” And then maybe hand over some chicken scratch, if you know what I mean.

I’m with you. If Cathy concedes, before you know it the LGBTs will be suggesting that Chick-Fil-A sign up for diversity training programs for all employees.

And after the success of Aug 1 Chick-Fil-A appreciation day, do we now want to go to CFA to celebrate diversity? Does it behoove a traditional Christian man to celebrate diversity?

“I’m sure many of these dolts truly believe that Cathy doesn’t want to serve “gays and lesbians” when nothing cold be further from the truth.”

Yes but knowing these lgbt dolts as I do, it doesn’t matter that Cathy and CFA are perfectly happy to serve them good food at good prices. What bothers them is that he is not celebrating and embracing their full equality in marriage. For them, that equals hate and makes them feel unwanted and icky. They are so arrogant and sick it boggles the mind.

There is nothing “gay” about homosexuals. They all are bitter and filled with hate. “Gay” my @$$.

By that the writer means Dan Cathy's chance to repent and embrace their deviant lifestyle. They do not want common ground. Like all leftists, they want total dominance and the ability to control others.

Par for the course. Gays have recently been caught in a number of anti-gay assault and vandalism fabrications. There is no issue, so they create one. Dan Cathy should stay the hell away from them, because this meeting will only become twisted to their aims.

I agree with you; these “meetings” are often a precursor to caving, or at least watering down one’s initial views. He should have said, politely but firmly, that there was nothing to discuss, since his opinion is already known.

I think Mr. Cathy is pretty fearless. You can’t hide from these people so you might as well meet them and state your position and reasons behind them. He doesn’t have to pander to them and he knows it, given the record sales CFA has been having.
