Palin to Romney: Time to 'Quit Preaching to the Choir'
Newsmax ^ | August 31, 2012 | Greg McDonald

Posted on 08/31/2012 5:23:19 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

As the Republican National Convention wound down Thursday evening, Sarah Palin said it was time for Mitt Romney to "quit preaching" to the conservative Republican base and get on with targeting the Reagan Democrats and independents he'll need to win the White House.

"Obviously the convention helps. It builds enthusiasm," said Palin, who did not attend the GOP gathering in Tampa. "But we have to, you know, beyond tonight, quit preaching to the choir.

"We need to talk to the independents out there in America, the hard-core patriotic American who wants a job," she told Fox News' Sean Hannity, adding that the Republican presidential nominee has to reach out as well to "Reagan Democrats who are not obsessed with partisanship" and want to know, as President Ronald Reagan used to say, "that our best days are in front of us."

"That's who we need to reach," she said.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee also warned Romney to prepare for more negative attacks as he tries to peel off support from President Barack Obama.

"It perhaps will get even worse in these next 60-some days" before the November election, she said. "Everybody needs to hang on to their hats."

Palin, now a Fox News contributor, again attacked her favorite target, the mainstream media, which she characterized as "lapdogs" for Obama, and which she still blames for the Republican loss in the 2008 presidential election....

Reagan's best trait was that he truly believed in the greatness of this country.

The GOP should stop trying to pander to identity politics because it is wrong. Greatness in this country comes from an individual trying to do better, provide for their family, and build something that is theirs to keep. Community is built upon neighbor helping neighbor of their own free will and desire to help those when they need it. Freedom is our defining principle and one needs to look no further than the Constitution to find its definition.

The opposition lives for identity politics, attempting to buy, bribe, and bodge together enough blocks of voters to make a majority. They depend on making people dependent. They have taken the concept of a social "safety net" and turned it into a plantation. Who better to play plantation style politics than the plantation party?

Really, K?
Sorry I am not going to, either figure it out, or move along.
Good grief, it is obvious, wait maybe not to those who have elevated Romney to something he is not.

I was wrong. I thought I had read stupid things on FR before, but honestly I think you just won the prize.

What you cited from my post was my attempt to understand what someone else had posted to me. I was not saying that. You should read the context before posting nonsense that makes you look like an ass.

No, honey.
It is those who have contributed to Romney what he is not. Romney has a long record and it is liberalism.
Why you can not see that is the mystery.
Will he be better than obama, maybe, maybe even possibly yet he is a liberal, don’t make him something he is not and has never been - a conservative.

Yes, it is obvious, which explains your refusal to admit what your “conservative” hero Palin is really advocating here.

Really, K?

If you ask something, then answer it, you don’t give me a chance to tell you the truth.

It’s ok.
We know apparently have decided to worship Romney and nobody better say anything bad or challenge him or even imply it.

So sad.

Once again Palin is right on. The Choir is, for the most part, on the bandwagon and the effort is to bring in those that are on the fence. The hard core simple minded King Obama lovers are losers and almost impossible to even get to listen.

No what would be nice if you bothered to use even a shred of intellectual ability and think instead of mindlessly squealing your daily does of sour grapes whining.

Don’t posture as if you ever bother to think about this election because your posts demonstrate clearly you don’t bother to think at all.

Romney or Obama is going to be the next President. Spending all your time around here whining about Romney does only ONE single thing, help Obama.

Anybody who looks up thread will see that I gave you a chance to answer. And that you took advantage of that opportunity to answer by posting this:

Good grief, it is obvious

So when you then say:

you don’t give me a chance to tell you the truth.

it shows me that you are not at all interested in a discussion; your only purpose in posting is to push people's buttons by being a complete ass.

Palin is not ever going to run for any office. She’s getting rich spouting what tea party members and conservatives want to hear, she’s doing reality shows, trying to hook up a gig on FNC. Forget it.

It sounds as if Palin is falling into the same trap. The message that wins those groups is the same message that wins Conservatives. There is no need to change. They should go back and look at Reagan’s message; it was the same to everyone.

Exactly

Reagan got the Reagan Democrats to come over in 1980 not because he went liberal....he did it by focusing on the economy, pro-life, and conservative values

Whenever I hear “forget the conservative base”...that is code for liberal. The conservative base wins elections for the GOP...not the hope of moderate/liberal independents voting GOP

Here is what the election will be: a liberal vs a liberal.
Apparently you have decide to vote for the liberal, be my guest, I am voting for a conservative.
Hey but never fear, I live in a blue state, so it wont matter.
Oh, yea, you miss understand revealing truth about Romney as whining, sorry honey, truth is not whining, it is simple truth (which apparently you are able to tell the difference).

Well nice you have feelings about what the Independents want to hear, too bad the polling data shows your opinions completely divorced from reality. Romney is currently up 15 points with them over 0

Palin is not perfect. She, like you, me, or Reagan can make a mistake. This article implies that she has bought into believing that we should have two different messages. That does not work. By telling a different group something different, you leave both groups wondering what you really believe. One message, the conservative message, is the way to go.
