Just curious, did they put jets in the air to protect “the skies” in Tampa? Or is this just all about the “O”?

Were they in the sky over Miami?
Not that I'd enjoy serving in that capacity with the current resident, but fighter pilots like burning holes in the sky.

With all the things to feel outraged about, I don’t have enough in the tank to feign outrage over this one.
I only yelled about the ROE. point number 4 of 4. Do they fly over every town he will be at or is it because we know the date and time beforehand? We know he’ll be at the hurricane site on Monday.
Did anyone see the First Lady in a booth at the GOP convention. I sure as hell did. And I might add that the Secret Service is required to protect Romney just as much as the President.
After September 11, 2001 the USAF instituted a CONUS mission called NOBLE EAGLE - selected CAP over the states. While a nice PR effort it also used up just about all of the available airframe and engine hours for the F-16 fleet.
Good PR - Yes.
Effective use of assets - Questionable.

I hope they check their oxygen equipment thoroughly, flying over the DNC convention will be like flying over an open cess pool.

The fighter will be scrambled after the last busload of unwilling union members to fill the stadium is emptied. The jets are not there to protect the conventioneers but to keep the bused in audience from escaping!!!
