Iowans Send Message to Obama
Yahoo News ^ | 1 Sep 2012 | Devin Dwyer

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - President Obama received a less than warm welcome and a warning upon arrival at the airport here on the second stop of his Iowa visit, which was aimed at recapturing some of the magic the state gave his run to the White House in 2008.

Greeting Air Force One as it touched down under sunny skies and sultry heat was a hand-painted banner draped across the top of an airplane hangar that reads, "Obama Welcome to SUX - We Did Build This." "SUX" is the airport code for Sioux City.

The message appeared to be a response President Obama's "you didn't build that" remark from a July campaign rally, when he was trying to explain that government - not businesses - constructed public infrastructure on which the economy relies. Republicans have used the four words to attack Obama as out of touch with the realities of owning and operating a small business.

The banner is a reminder that this part of the state remains hotly contested turf for both Obama and his Republican rival Mitt Romney, just as the campaign enters the home stretch.

Sioux City, which sits on the border with Nebraska in the northwest corner of the state, is territory Obama lost in 2008 to Sen. John McCain, even though he won the state overall. Obama won 49 percent of the vote here to McCain's 50 percent, a difference of just 500 votes.

Obama also won the Iowa caucuses, an early confirmation that his message was resonating with Democrats.

Polls show Iowa, which Obama won handily four years ago carrying 54 percent of the vote, is up for grabs in November. Obama and Romney have been locked in a dead heat since early this year.

The least noticed but perhaps most telling aspect of the campaign is that, in the past five weeks, Obama has spent more than ten days visiting Iowa.

His focus on Iowa is remarkable.

He clearly needs it but worries he will lose it.

That he needs it indicates the upper Midwest has swung strongly back to American values and, thereby, Romney.

The pundits are silent on this Iowa focus, but it is important.

lol...did the article forget to tell us that the “welcome to” was so tiny compared to the “Obama Sux”? It was great!

You’re right, it’s already got more recognition than he ever dreamed of, so it served its purpose. I have it saved for posting.

Obama promptly called in an air strike and the offending hangar was leveled.
The the SS dragged the owners to the terminal where they were summarily excuted with a pistol shot to the head as horrified passengers looked on.

" Republicans have used the four words to attack Obama as out of touch with the realities of owning and operating a small business."

That is a lie!! Republican rightly have identified Øbozo's remark as an expression of his Marxist belief that it is government, not individual effort that powers progress.

From your mouth to God’s ears that he is in trouble. But I really think that he is. I was out knocking on doors today for the campaign in deep blue territory. There were tons of folks who would not open doors to us. But there were also folks who were offering us bottled water and about a 50/50 response for our side including some new volunteers. Given the area we were in, I was so inspired by the response.

How does a banner specifically aimed at Obama serve as a reminder that it’s a tight race? The writer combines several assumptions and makes conclusions despite a lack of supporting evidence. In fact, the lead sentence contradicts the rest of the paragraph.

I know it’s standard media procedure but the horse race cliche is exactly that especially when the evidence is mounting that Obama is clinging to any sort of chance only through the power of incumbency, racial guilt, and far too many dupes who still think D = party of FDR and Truman. It has to keep them up at night to think that they can’t even assemble hand-picked crowds this time.

Once again the corrupt MSM becomes an apologist for Obama.

First, the writer deliberately misrepresents what Obama actually said, and what he said beyond those four words was even worse and more insulting.

Second, anytime Republicans have the goods on Liberals, the corrupt MSM always portrays Republicans of “using” it for crass political purposes. Conversely, Democrats are never characterized as doing anything - even when they clearly are - for partisan gain.

Just more or the corrupt MSM’s ongoing partisan tactics and abject dishonestly.

The big question is why Kenyan is blowing his whole wad for less than 10 electoral votes.

There were an incredible 5,571 comments on that yahoo/ABC article at the time I made this post and they were OVERWHELMINGLY against Obama! It really does seem like a shift of sentiment is underway. A really BIG shift!

Just for the official record, not trying to make a personal comparison.... , but this Iowa fetish at the expense of many other States, is reminicent of Hilter’s nuttiness in micro managing the battlefields inspite of his generals better judgemnent.

You know, it could be fun to give Obama a welcome at every airport in the nation. It's not like we don't have the people to do it.

SFO, LAX, etc., and a little imagination..

Yeah, yeah, yeah ... if the government hadn't built roads, Henry Ford wouldn't have built the Model 'T', and if the government hadn't produced air, the Wright brothers wouldn't have built their airplane.
