Former Congressman 'Unsurprised' by Corrie Verdict
Arutz Sheva ^ | 31/8/12 | Elad Benari

Posted on 09/01/2012 11:45:31 PM PDT by Eleutheria5

A former congressman who represented Rachel Corrie's district said on Thursday he was unsurprised by an Israeli court verdict to dismiss a civil suit filed by the family.

Speaking to the Bethlehem-based Ma’an news agency, Democrat Brian Baird of Washington said the trial was undermined by Israel's failure to conduct a transparent investigation into Corrie’s death in 2003.

“The verdict was not a great surprise” because the outcome resulted from “a process that seemed designed to obfuscate the facts rather than clarify,” the ex-lawmaker said.

“Sadly, as I've come to understand, this is standard operating procedure” for many complaints alleging Israeli military misconduct, he said. “The case was dismissed without proper consideration.”

On Tuesday, a Haifa court ruled that Corrie caused her own death by intentionally remaining in front of an IDF bulldozer.

Judge Oded Gershon supported the IDF claim that the driver of the bulldozer could not see Corrie, who was protesting the 2003 demolitions of structure in Rafiah, Gaza.

The court noted that the case of Corrie is sad but that the young woman, who was 23 years old, was fully aware that she was in danger and that she could have prevented her own death by moving out of the path of the bulldozer.

Judge Gershon found the IDF free of blame and said it did not act recklessly. .....

Somewhat polished from initial appearance. I was just looking for an excuse to present the revised edition:

They say that Rachel Corie had a perpetual frown, With political connections to keep herself around. Born into society, a crimson diaper child, She had everything a man could want: glower, face, and bile. But I make bombs in a factory And I curse the life I’m living And I curse my poverty And I wish that I could be, Oh, I wish that I could be, Oh, I wish that I could be Rachel Corie. The papers print her picture almost everywhere she shows: Rachel Corie at the IHOP, Rachel Corie on the go. And the rumor of the parties and the orgies where she’s not! Oh, she surely can’t be happy lost in Ghaza and forgot. But I make bombs in a factory And I curse the life I’m living And I curse my poverty And I wish that I could be, Oh, I wish that I could be, Oh, I wish that I could be Rachel Corie. She freely gave to charity, she had the common touch, And they were grateful for her patronage and thanked her very much, So my mind was filled with wonder when the evening headlines read: “Rachel Corie sat down today and got flattened and is dead.” But I make bombs in a factory And I curse the life I’m living And I curse my poverty And I wish that I could be, Oh, I wish that I could be, Oh, I wish that I could be Rachel Corie.

They say that Rachel Corie had a perpetual frown,

With political connections to keep herself around.

Born into society, a crimson diaper child,

She had everything a man could want: glower, face, and bile.

But I make bombs in a factory

And I curse the life I’m living

And I curse my poverty

And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,

Oh, I wish that I could be

Rachel Corie.

The papers print her picture almost everywhere she shows:

Rachel Corie at the IHOP, Rachel Corie on the go.

And the rumor of the parties and the orgies where she’s not!

Oh, she surely can’t be happy lost in Ghaza and forgot.

But I make bombs in a factory

And I curse the life I’m living

And I curse my poverty

And I wish that I could be,

Oh, I wish that I could be,

Oh, I wish that I could be
Rachel Corie.

She freely gave to charity, she had the common touch,

And they were grateful for her patronage and thanked her very much,

So my mind was filled with wonder when the evening headlines read:

“Rachel Corie sat down today and got flattened and is dead.”

But I make bombs in a factory

And I curse the life I’m living

And I curse my poverty

And I wish that I could be,

Oh, I wish that I could be,

Oh, I wish that I could be

Rachel Corie.

Baird has always been a leftist asshole. More proof that Washington State needs a thorough purge of the Left.

Remember, it is where Obama’s grandfather and mother joined a far-left, Communist infiltrated church.

Beautiful state, some really sick leftist aholes there.

Oregon is much the same, I’ve heard. I used to own a book titled Ectopia, about the entire left coast, including Alaska, seceding from the Union and creating a paradise where there’s no crime or poverty, and weed is legal. Perhaps the lefties have been migrating there over decades, entrenching themselves with that goal in mind.

My friend in Spokane calls the Northwest west of the Cascades the “Left Coast”.
Wasn’t it Rachel Corie the girl who went to a far left “college” in the Olympia area where students lived in tents and grades were pass / no pass. Didn’t she stand in front of a D-9 sized bull dozer thinking that the operator could see her over that huge blade and “hope” she could stop the machine by her mere presence? She was an overschooled but uneducated leftie.

Imagine what it must have felt like to get run over and totally squashed by a giant bulldozer. Ouch.

The truth, for all who don’t know it, is she killed herself..she climbed a dirt mound in front of a d-9 Cat with it’s blade down so that the operator couldn’t see her. Then she lost her footing and was crushed by a cement block. So she died of stupidity and was a useful tool. The head of the ism commented that she was a soldier in the ism and that they lose their lives like Israeli soldiers, in other words, trying for moral equivalency..I say, screw the ism and rachel corrie....

This bumbling fool sounds like he might have confused the death of the pro-terrorist Corrie, with US government massacre and slaughter at the Branch Dividian compound at Waco or the unprovoked government sniper murders at Ruby Ridge.

Good morning.

With all the Corrie stories, I had to have pancakes at the Village Inn on Friday. They were great.

But in both those incidents, the US government was fighting armed crazies. The IDF, on the other hand, was harassing innocent, piece-loving Palestinians, who have lived in the same spot since before the flood, and were happy and prosperous until the evil Israelis came along and wouldn’t leggo of their Eggo. Naturally, they just had to freedom fight with rockets aimed at Be’er Sheva and anti-tank missiles at school buses. Poor Rachel Corrie only wanted to be a part of that great endeavor, ‘cause she never had any fun back in Washington (because her face scared crows)./s

The house bulldozings of families of terrorists are symbolic insults (and eliminate possible bomb factories). What is not told is that the people get to first retrieve their valuables and always get re-housed elsewhere.

Anyhow, it’s good to see there’s a limit to the indulgence of stupidity even in Israel. It might have been smart for police to guard the site better since after all Corrie might have shown up in front of a bulldozer with a bomb, not just a camera. But they bear no legal burden by the lights of any sensible country for failing.

Oh, I wish that I could be,

Oh, I wish that I could be

Rachel Corie.
Well, I'll be a sin-of-a-gun. Never thought I'd see that song used that way.

Brilliant.

Don’t bet on it. It’s legal in Jamaica, but once you get past the tourist belt in Kingston, you’re on your own.

Electric? I’m jealous.

For me it was Mom’s Underwood. Computers had tubes and lived in research labs.
