Welcome to 'Panthers Stadium' (UPDATED) (Bank of America name not allowed by RATS)

Welcome to 'Panthers Stadium' (UPDATED)
By MAGGIE HABERMAN | 7/17/12 7:38 AM EDT

National Democrats have repeatedly touted their stand against taking corporate money for their convention in September, and so it was striking to see two emails from the DNC host committee referring to the Charlotte venue where President Obama will speak as "Panthers Stadium."

It's the place where the Panthers play, but it's actually called Bank of America stadium.

A recent email from the host committee signed by former Al Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile urged people to win a trip to Charlotte for the event, which will wrap "Thursday night at Panthers Stadium with President Obama."

Most of those supporters don’t look real happy to be there. When it’s all over, it will have been a deflating event for them.

I think the actually plan to cover the name. BoA won’t have a problem with it, certainly won’t challenge it, for fear of ticking off the White House.

I’m sure the two panther sculptures flanking the main entrance make certain attendees feel right at home. They’re black panthers.

This sort of thing happens all the time -- to the point that I would question the judgement of any corporation that pays a small fortune to have "naming rights" for a sports venue.

Some years ago the NCAA Final Four was held in New Jersey at the Continental Airlines Arena. A competing airline company (I believe it was American Airlines) was "the official airline of the NCAA Final Four" that year, so American Airlines, the NCAA and the TV network that was broadcasting the games had to come up with a set of protocols for protecting their "investment" in the Final Four. If I remember correctly, there was no mention of the Continental Airlines Arena in any NCAA materials or the television broadcasts.

I hope Fox in their coverage always refers to the location as BOA stadium in Charlotte. Typical RATS, ignoring reality to fit their needs.

Just a quick note the Panther emblem of the team is not the type of panther once found in the area which looks like a mountain lion. Rather it is a black panther not native to this country. Since this change to the stadium is new I suppose it is really the New Black Panther Stadium.

This whole stadium name debacle is so typical of Democrats and their liberal mentality. It’s a microcosm of this entire campaign and the 0bama admin as a whole.

Deny the truth... call it something else.... and pretend it was fact all along. All the while, worrying more about how things look, than how they really are or actually doing something about it.

Hey, I’ve got an idea! The DNC could pay naming rights to rename “Bank of America Stadium” to “Panthers Stadium”. BOA gets its money back, the Panthers get some new naming rights money, the fans get their stadium name back to what it ought to be anyway, and the DimRats don’t have to refer to the name of an evil bank when discussing their convention. Sounds like one of those classic win-win situations to me!

Durbin to Bank of America Customers: ‘Get the Heck Out of That Bank’

Holding up a plastic debit card on the Senate floor this afternoon, Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., had some advice for Bank of America customers angry about the new $5 monthly fee: leave.

Turban Durbin is known around his state of Illinois as:

“FIVE DOLLAR DICK”

During the last election for Senator there was a billboard up on the expressway which read:

“DICK DICK BEFORE HE DICKS YOU!”

Hey Dick. “Get the hell out of that bank”

Attention All Freepers and other lovers of Freedom in the North Carolina and surrounding areas: Operation Chaos has now been activated. We must get our hands on as many of these tickets to the Thursday night speech at Bank of America Stadium as possible! We must make our voices heard this election season, and there is no better time to start. I would suggest getting tickets, showing up and then walking out during The Socialist’s speech. The media will have to report on the thousands who stream out of arena during the course of his blabbering. Please pass this information on to anyone in the area. Does anyone know where tickets may be obtained or if anyone has already started something similar?

Amusing.

Is Panther’s Stadium anywhere near John Kerry’s “Lambert Field”?

Bank of America, as the largest (or one of the largest) corporation headquartered in Charlotte, probably had a lot to do with the 'Rats choosing Charlotte as their convention location.

IIRC, their top execs had been giving predominantly to 'Rat candidates in recent election cycles, but may now be leaning more toward the GOP in their largesse. That would be typical of large firms in the financial and banking industry.

That's probably the underlying reason for the official Democratic snub in the mention of the stadium's name.
