INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Metro Police say an Indianapolis homeowner shot the man who had broken into his home early Friday morning.
The home is in the 5600 block of Willowridge Court in Decatur Township.
The homeowner, Wallace Turner, told police he, his wife and 5-year-old daughter were sleeping around 1:45 a.m., when the intruder kicked in the back door.
Turner said he grabbed his handgun and ran down the hall to confront the burglar who was standing in his living room.
Turner said, "He wasn't getting past me. My wife and daughter were behind me."
At that point, Turner said, the burglar lunged at him; Turner fired the gun twice, striking the burglar in the leg.
Turner should have used his sights... He wouldn’t have hit low.
One of Holder’s people again?
Must be.
The article stated ‘unidentified’.
But then again, the thug kept saying, ‘sorry’.
Holder’s people don’t say ‘sorry’.
They say, ‘you owe me’.
Chock one up for the good guys!
Some more target practice perhaps as a friendly suggestion. ; )
One command, “Get down”
Failure to immediately comply results in immediate firing.
I experienced almost exactly the same thought process as you put down, albeit in slightly different words.
The 'sorry' thing made me feel a little bad for the guy.
I guess being shot in the leg makes whatever else you were desperate about kind of recede into the the background.
Maybe there's hope for the guy, but he will surely go to prison. There, saying 'sorry' just makes people laugh.
Thanks for your input.
Nah,,,just shoot at the SOB the best you can under the circumstances!
In that situation I wouldn’t second guess anyone.
Just shoot. Its the middle of the night, dark and you just woke up. I give the guy a LOT of credit.this is not a traget range in broad daylight.
Target ID in your home is paramount. Screw the invader - what you want to make sure of is that when you flip on the light as the smoke is clearing, you're not looking at one of your own.
That said, every family member should actually enact the drill. ID is necessary, but so is not letting a bastard get a jump on you.
gOOD POINTS. THANKS.
