This anecdote is revealed in a New Yorker article on the relationship between Bill Clinton and Obama:
Tim Russert told me that, according to his sources, Bill Clinton, in an effort to secure an endorsement for Hillary from Ted Kennedy, said to Kennedy, "A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags."

Can you imagine, what would have happened if a Republican had said this?! There would be no end to accusations of racism.

It is true that only in politics can completely unqualified people get elected.

Bill Clinton is TOTALLY defended from any charge of “racism”. After all, he plays the saxophone, and wasn’t he the “first black president”?
And yeah, Obama would not only have carried Bill’s bags, he would have been serving the coffee and even done a soft-shoe shuffle to show off his native sense of rhythm.
Of course, the coffee would have been spit into, as well.

"A Few Years Ago, This Guy Would Have Been Carrying Our Bags" Good thing Bill didn't say, "A few years ago, this Chicago guy would have been carrying our Golf Bags!" That... would have been racist!

You’ve got a point there. After twelve years at the University of Chicago, he made it as far as ‘senior lecturer’. Another 12 years, and he might have made ‘associate professor’.

Frankly, anyone who would say that deserves to be seen for the slime ball they are. Sure wouldn’t be a first for Clinton.

I can't wait to hear Bubba speak at the dem convention, hoping his ire at Obama will leak out. Bubba is the poster boy for a "war against women", hard for him to cast the first stone about that, lol.
