NEW YORK Sure, the economy is adding jobs these days
but most of those positions pay pretty poorly. Some 58% of the jobs created during the recovery have been low-wage positions, according to a new report by the National Employment Law Project. Only 22% have been mid-wage jobs and 20% higher-wage positions. These low-wage jobs pay $13.83 an hour or less. The recovery continues to be skewed toward low-wage jobs, reinforcing the rise in inequality and Americas deficit of good jobs, said Annette Bernhardt, NELPs policy co-director. While theres understandably a lot of focus on getting employment back

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I never hear anyone talk of “McJobs”. I wonder why?
Hmmm.
The NY Times just recently had a piece on this exact same topic as well.
I know the MSM is careful to run interference for the Kenyan on these kinds of stories, but he can’t be pleased to see them being put out there.
Notice how they talk about “The Recovery” in the first few sentences.
What a joke.
This is the normal result of communist economic policies.
More wage inequality.
I know I was better off after four years of Reagan than I would have been with four more years of Carter. I predict that four years from now, after Romney and Ryan have been in office, we'll see another heavy economic expansion similar to the 80's. Oh, and don't forget, not soon after Romney is inaugurated, the homeless will magically reappear.
Yep, and the numbers help Obama mask the real story.
Yep. After the lay off...took a job at$12 dollars less an hour. Can’t consume luxury items and can barely save. Thanks Obammy for making me “equal”!
A completely ‘service economy’ will not work for long.
In order to stay viable and growing, manufacturing must be first and foremost the bedrock of any economy that will ever hope to last.
You cannot build a strong nation on nail salons, fast food and entertainment venues........
I believe Michael Savage wrote a book about this. Title was Trickle Up Poverty.
The purpose of socialism is to make everyone equally miserable........
Not necessarily obama wages, more like global wages. Don’t expect any change no matter which of the two liberals end up @ 1600 Pennsylvania ave.
Isn’t that what the libs say when they’re complaining about Wal Mart? Is this the Wal Mart recovery?
Bush and last GOP Congress Federal Deficit 2006. $160 billion
Obama and Last Dem Congress Federal Deficit 2010. $1.6 TRILLION
Right they “all the same” /s
Its a fact that 999 out of 1000 Americans can not grasp. The more of the economy that is in the hands of Gov't controllers and central planners, the more the benefits flow only to those connected to the Gov't.
Fundamentally the only sources of wealth are to
Extract it - fishing, forestry, mining and drilling
Grow it - farming
Manufacture it - from resources extracted or grown
Transport it - from where it is to where it is needed
Taking in each others laundry (also known as a service economy) doesn’t create wealth, it just spreads it thinner and thinner until it is all gone.
A year or so ago, someone posted an interactive"unemployment map" which showed--VIVIDLY--how unemployment has spread throughout the country.
In 2004 there were pockets of low-employment, red in color. By 2006 those red areas had spread out quite a bit, but by 2008 they were starting to take over the map, and by 2010, the whole country was "bathed in red".
Gave a very simple to understand and visually powerful picture of what the Dims have done to destroy this country--starting when they took control of the Congress!
If anyone can find that map, I'd sure love to see it again!
Yes. Because the available wealth keeps decreasing rather than increasing.
The USSR wouldn’t have lasted 20 years without their mineral and oil wealth.
It’s the new normal.
