Romney Didn’t Make the Sale
Newsmax ^ | Larry Kudlow

Posted on 09/02/2012 9:32:27 PM PDT by deek69

Did Mitt Romney make the economic sale at the Republican National Convention? Did he convince people who are living at the margin or unemployed and discouraged that he has the answers to the economy? Frankly, I don’t think so.

Whatever. I thought so. To be honest is was comforting not to listen to the race baiting, lying and “I’s” that constantly come out of EC’s mouth. (EC=Empty Chair)

If it’s that big a deal the author can vote for Obama to make himself feel better.

It’s simple- I retire from the State this year. If Romney wins, I get a new job in America. If Obama wins, I get a new job in Canada.

He didn’t come off like a Messiah? Too bad. It takes a Messiah these days to make an impression.

He wasn’t even really trying to make that case at the convention. He was just trying to show people that if they want a viable alternative to BHO that he is that man.

I think that idea is now firmly planted. In the next two months he does have to build on that and does indeed have to lay out a plan that at least 50.1% of the country can get excited about and vote for.

Not much time, but if he (and the rest of the party) are disciplined and united, he can pull it off.

God everyone here knows I hate Romney (very much dislike...I don’t hate anyone), but Romney picked Paul Ryan...Thank Goodness.

Does the little Romneycare fascist trump the lilttle Kenyan communist? International Fascism or communism...What a choice! Both name the constitutional repubic extreme, domestic terrorism, even.

They have “progressed” beyond old fashioned notions of individual freedom - America.

Actually the current conservative Canada is good, 'cept for no 1st nor 2nd Amendments.

Having lived within 45 mi of the border for many decades, going there has never been an issue.

I'd prefer that at least some States along the border straighten up.

Larry, you’re wrong. You’re an economist, a money wonk. You clearly don’t understand that your favorite subject is not sexy. It’s not going to get the crowd to leap to their feet, screaming. Romney did what he had to do at the convention, and boring people with economics was not it.

You had some guy on your show who tried to explain to you that it would not have been wise for Romney to reveal specifics at the GOP convention, only to have the Dems exploit it at the Dem convention. Pay attention. He was right.

I predict you stay in America because I seriously believe Romney wins. However, if the nightmare happens, you can still be a FRiend in Canada. But I am hopeful you will be in the good ole USA for the rest of your great life.

Where Kudlow skips off the record, is when he starts thinking Romney has to take people by the hand and spell it out for them.

You've been out of work for two years. You've got a dimwitted know-it-all in the White House who hasn't just done nothing, but has made it far worse. Then you've got an extremely successful businessman running against him who has helped save 70% of the businesses his concern took the task of helping.

Who are you going to vote for?

Who needs to explain who is going to be better qualified to spark new business? At the very least, who needs to explain Obama just doesn't have a fix in him?

Kudlow, I think you mean well here, but there are times when you can over-think a simple issue, and this is definitely one of them.

The American people may be stupid, but self-interest comes into play at some point, and this president is toast. Learn to accept it.

Our so called conservative pundits are full of $hit. Do they really expect Romney to come out with a detailed plan and have it torn apart just a few days later?

Hello overpaid Jerks! It would have been a strategic blunder to come out with a plan and have A$$elrod, et al. attacking it beginning today.

Now you so called conservative Effing Jerks, please STFU. You are proving yourself absolutely useless.

He may not have closed the deal, but he didn’t blow it either. Progress is in the right direction. We still have a ways to go.

I think you are right. He was trying to make the case to let him make the case, to show that he was not some kind of rich monster, and I suppose they did that OK.

I also read that they wanted to fix up the Republican “brand” which may have needed doing. Despite the 2010 election results it’s pretty amazing how all many (most?) people know about American politics on the federal level is who is the president. Then they’ll know their governor and maybe mayor.
