A senior Democratic lawmaker is urging President Barack Obama to issue an executive order aimed at protecting the nation's critical infrastructure against cyber threats.

In an open letter to the President on Tuesday, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) called on Obama to use his authority to get government agencies and critical infrastructure owners to implement better controls for protecting their computer networks.

"While efforts to reach consensus continue, I fear that the Congress will be unable to pass meaningful cybersecurity legislation this year," said Feinstein, who is the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. "Therefore, I believe the time has come for you to use your full authority to protect the U.S. economy and the networks we depend on from future cyber attack."

Pretty good! the Senator from California that cannot tell one part of a firearm from another heads the Senate Intelligence committee!

She has been having a devil of a time getting more gun control issues raised, so now she is screaming about ‘controlling the Internet’!

She cannot get another of her fingers wrapped around an American’s right to self-protection, so she now goes after his/her right of free speech!

Perfect obamanian intelligence quotient!

“Protecting against internet and cybersecurity infrastructure threats”,my Butt! This is all about Obama’s famous ‘Internet Kill Switch’,that will allow him to censor the internet at will in order to deny American’s an avenue of Freedom of Speech and also to help him consolidate power in preparation for martial law.

Control of Twitter, Tumblr, social networking,... Ie., control the message.

They already control the message in the media and can't really control what is said on any particular forum. They may try to force online identity (for your safety of course) which would preclude anonymity and "illegal downloading". Mostly they want to control corporations so they will require security "audits" that don't increase security but allow more regulation and taxation and lawsuits by the trial lawyers. Likewise corporations will have to announce when they are hacked so the lawyers can do their class action lawsuits.

On other fronts they want to "protect critical infrastructure" which probably means more DMCA prosecution of researchers who find holes in proprietary products like voting systems and smart grid meters. They want to the DHS more money and power to expand their incompetency into new areas in cyberspace.

Hey DiFi!

How will you notify the DNC masses of your upcoming events? Your calls to action? Your needs for donations?

Careful what you wish for, Chickee..
