Michelle Obama Embraces The Role of First Celebrity [Darling of Fawning Media!]

Michelle Obama Embraces The Role of First Celebrity Steering clear of political combat, she uses pop culture and entertainment media to her own and her husband's advantage.

By Kathleen Hennessey and Katherine Skiba, Washington Bureau September 3, 2012 WASHINGTON — Four years ago, the Obama campaign was strategizing about how to present Michelle Obama to the country with her prime-time speech at the Democratic National Convention. Today, the A-lister needs no introduction.

If you missed her on David Letterman last week, you can catch her on television soon with Rachael Ray and Dr. Oz. If you have kids, you know her from the Nickelodeon channel — iCarly, anyone? If you're a reality TV fan, you caught her doing squats on "The Biggest Loser" or judging contestants on Bravo's "Top Chef." If you cook, you saw her on Epicurious.com.

She blogs. She tweets. She posts recipes on Pinterest.

Each president's wife is given the challenge and luxury of making a name for herself in an undefined, unelected position. It took Michelle Obama little time to settle into her role: first celebrity. Her life is not an open book, though. She picks and chooses among interviewers in risk-averse settings and steers clear of Washington's hand-to-hand political combat.

While Barack Obama was knocked by opponents for soaring to star status in 2008, it's Michelle Obama who has embraced pop culture and entertainment media, using it to her own and her husband's advantage.

Both she and Ann Romney are feminist man-hating NOWsers! Something they both have in common.

Gag me with a spoon. I can’t stand this wookie. She and her husband think they are celebrities. I sure hope they leave the WH and do Hollywood. At least that way, I’ll have a say in whether or not I want to see or hear them. I don’t!!

I’m guessing she’ll need a deluxe, week-long vacation on the Riviera with 200 of her closest friends after all the work she’s going through at the DNC.

Her remarks about Barack being a better president/decision-maker than Mitt could be because of his “life experiences” are LAUGHABLE. She acts like Barack is the only person to have ever lived a life—no one else has “life experiences” except Barack. I can’t think of one thing he ever did in his past that impresses me. Not one.

I think that after they leave the WH, they will probably have the least staying power of any former President/FL in recent memory. They won’t be suffering by any means but their post Presidency connections will dry up fast. Thanks to his administration and policies the private sector will have less places and room to absorb their incompetents.

Funny. I must have missed a lot during the eight years of Dubya. I can’t remember Laura Bush being feted and exalted by the media as a rock star. And I can’t remember Mrs. Bush taking half million dollar vacations in foreign countries at tax-payer expense. Someone enlighten me.

Her remarks about Barack being a better president/decision-maker than Mitt could be because of his “life experiences” are LAUGHABLE.

This is the Dunning-Kruger Effect (ie.: stupid people are too stupid to realize they're stupid).

Michelle and most of Holder's People actually believe this politically correct "Life Experience" hogwash. It is part of their "education".

Remember, not so many years ago it was revealed that a number of top colleges were using "Life Experience" in lieu of a good scolastic record to justify admitting blacks who would not otherwise qualify for admission.

College officials admitted this was more or less a racial ploy they had been using and was necessary to justify college entry for blacks or they would not have achieved their desired levels of diversity.

Once these people have been "educated" with racial fairy tales and political correctness they are graduated and turned loose on the world. Instead of the usual college level skill sets their heads are full of false self esteem and mushy notions that their life experience is unique and of value to others.
