We had gas lines under Nixon, too. Price controls will do that.

I don’t remember that. Although I was born in 1969 so that probably explains that. lol.

COC web site---Aloha and Welcome. The beach at dusk is a unique experience in Kailua. Many Kailuans will be there, watching the sunset and the moonrise, which is quite spectacular, especially during the full moon phase. As the sun goes down behind the Koolau, very often the sky turns red, tinting the puffy clouds pink. As you walk in any direction of the 3 mile expanse of soft white sand, water lapping at your feet, you will see the moon rise and realize there is no where else on earth quite like Kailua.

We in Kailua like to think of our town as the most wonderful place in the world. We are truly blessed with nature, beauty and good people. Kailua has many natural wonders like the Mokulua Islands, Kawainui Marshland, Mount Olomana, sacred ancient Hawaiian sites, many parks, playgrounds, unique businesses, beautiful beaches and an outstanding quality of life. Our eclectic population of more than 50,000 are from all walks of life and all cultures with approximately 1,500 small businesses.

I’ve been to Kailua and loved it. For the most part it struck me as a middle class, suburban town (with a REALLY nice beach). I am sure there are a few spectacular estates on the roads near the beach. I never saw them though. It seems like a great place to raise a family.

Hawai’i is as close as they could get to another country.

When I first read all this, I thought “Good. Put them as far away as possible.” Then, I thought:”They know just how bad things are going to get in the USA. They figure they can get supplied via China and Asia when the US mainland goes down economically.”

We decided not to visit Hawai’i again after they established their Honor Islam Day or whatever it was called.

I would actually like to see the zer0s homeless or coping w/gunfire in their neighborhood.

Thought about chipping in a quarter, provided they would promise to leave the U.S. permanently, but then the 47 fictional counties that got stimulus money and other “perks” on taxpayer dime are probably more than adequate to buy them the lifestyle they unfairly imagine they deserve. I hope the Just God will see to it that they end their lives in poverty, and Michelle’s spending habits could just do it to them.

“Hope this excerpt is correct.
Also who bought the Bush or Ragan familys a home to meet their “new stature in life” after leaving the White House.I believe they already had pretty nice digs could be wrong?”

I was a bit surprised about that as I know President Bush had the Crawford Ranch and President Reagan had his CA ranch. Kevin included the below in his article (I’m not sure if it’s true or not - will need to do a little research - but he’s pretty good at research). I believe that both of the former Presidents had sufficint funds to purchase their own homes.

Kevin included the following:
“Ronald Reagan’s California pals assembled a funding operation to buy Nancy and him their post-presidential ranch. The Clintons used Bill’s book advance to buy their new home and the Bushes had their friends help them secure the place they moved into in suburban Dallas.”

Note: apparently the Regan ranch referred to in Kevin’s quote is the one next to the presidential library in Simi Valley, not the one he previously owned in Santa Barbara.

““appeals of you don’t want the President to be homeless in January, do you?””

That’s not and entirely unappealing thought.

You’ve gone to the finest schools Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
Nobody ever taught you how to live out on the street
And now you’re gonna have to get used to it.

Nice fantasy. But in reality, he will live comfortably for the rest of his life on huge speaking fees funded by left-wing groups. Like Jimmy Carter, his theme will be how awful America is, how stupid it was not to reelect him, how the Jews and Israel took him down, and how non-progressives are awful, mean people. Obama will add to Carter’s refrain an overlay of explicit racism.

“Gas lines are easily remedied by removing price controls. The damage inflicted by Obama will be more persistent.”

And, Obama stood on the shoulders of the giants who came before him—Woodrow Wilson, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, LBJ, Nixon and the post-Watergate congress, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. Without the infrastructure they built, it would have been impossible for him to wreck havoc nearly as effectively.

Just for the record, (or, as The Won would say, “just to be clear”), I’m not Kevin but I agree that he does a great job on his site!

I apologize for not providing a warning - hope your laptop is OK :-)

Kevin started a section on Hilbuzz some time ago (IIRC it wasn’t too long after the last election). If you’re not offended by pictures of drag queens, you might find this interesting (WARNING: place all liquids down and away from your computer before viewing):

“They probably plan to charge the SS “rent” for their garage that amounts to 70% of the mortgage.”

That wouldn’t surprise me in the least! It will also help to pay for some of Moochelle ma belle’s vacations to Spain, Indonesia, China, etc.

If the OBummers move to this house, someone should put a sign out front: You Didn’t Build It

There are two reasons this Hawaiian estate stuff is being leaked now. First is to get the money for his palatial digs while the iron is hot. If he loses the election, he loses any hope of a multi-million dollar estate on lavish grounds in the island state.

Equally important, by turning the public's attention to a potential new home in Hawaii he is effectively distancing himself as far as he can from his war-zone Chicago digs. It's no longer cool or politically productive to be from this corrupt city.

I have little doubt the rather run-of-the mill, hardly-attractive home in the crime-laden south side of the mostly frigid, windy city is already privately up for sale.....and the first couple will return there only to pack up their things and steal the copper wiring out of the walls.

I think Pritzker must know a lot more than the media is telling us.

Hell, I was born in 57 and I never saw any gas lines under Nixon. Started driving in 1973, and gas was 29.9 cents. The first gas lines I ever saw was when I was in college about 1976.

If there were any gas lines before that, I’d like to hear about it, cause I don’t think there were any in my area, at least.

Naps...
Seeing as you are located near USNA, I thought you might like this...
My dad is Class of ‘47, Carter’s class, and the amount of kow-towing the alums from that class give to Carter is stunning.
Granted, they’re a bit long in the tooth these days but cripes! It really gets to be much a lot of the time...sycophants even in Boat School.

Wow. That is pretty cool. You know it could be that the class is remembering the guy who was their shipmate more than the guy who became President. Do I think Carter is a good guy deep down? Probably, but he was so inadequate as a President and just didn’t have a clue how to run the country which is even weirder since he was governor of a state, but maybe he thought it was going to be easy or something. Anyway, I am not only located near the Academy, but I actually work on the academy. I absolutely love it. I retired from the Navy last year after 24 years and wanted to come back (I was stationed here from 1995 to 2000)...I am not an alumni though.
