LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles is trading the trees for the stars -- and not everybody's happy about it.
Crews on Tuesday are chopping down hundreds of pine, ficus and other trees along the streets where the space shuttle Endeavor will roll next month.

btw .. They are replacing the trees 2 for 1.
It can’t be transported upright?
So where’s the EcoEnviro Nuts, e.g. Center for BioDiversity?
They sue over everything else. Why not this?
Better yet, give the Shuttle to Houston.
Our neighbor got a $500 fine for chopping down ONE fir tree that was on the border of their property...in a bad spot....of course...they do NOT belong to the ELITE class...
This wouldn’t be an issue if it went to the U.S. Air Force museum where it belongs...
firewood ping
Did they find out that your neighbor was a GOD Fearing Republican?
HA...they are Conservative Russian immigrants...so, yes, maybe
Admittedly, the first thing that ran through my head was, “Man! Think of all the firewood!”.
Sounds like the Enviro-NKVD/KGB went after them.
Viewing the space shuttle = one minute.
Losing 400 trees = lost forever.
In San Francisco, they would dig out the entire tree including roots, and transport it for replanting. They’ve done similar work around the Presidio, moving and replanting plants, each plant costing hundreds and even thousands of dollars to move - even though same plant can be bought new at local nurseries for a dozen dollars. Explanation is that they are native plants, so must be treated with care. Absolutely crazy waste of taxpayer money. BTW, most of the Presidio and Golden Gate Park were originally sand dunes before Americans brought in plants from elsewhere, but you won’t see liberals returning them to their native conditions - hypocrites all.
Considering the shuttles birth place is SoCali..one belongs there
Try asking the City to trim trees though with more than 15 years since their last one and they’re too busy.
