Virgil Goode makes presidential ballot in Virginia
The Washington Post ^ | September 4, 2012 | Ben Pershing

Former congressman Virgil Goode Jr. has qualified for the presidential ballot in Virginia, the State Board of Elections ruled Tuesday, adding a potential obstacle to Republican Mitt Romney’s hopes of winning the pivotal state.

The state Republican party has already challenged the eligibility of Goode, who is the Constitution Party’s nominee, and could still get him knocked off the ballot.

But, hey, at least you can say that you made a difference by voting for goode.

I guess you missed the part where I said I wasn't voting for Goode?

You can either be for or against Obama. The ‘third way’ is the path of the coward. They think they are preserving their purity but they are going straight to hell. Actions (and inaction) have consequences.

Anyone who thinks as you do has not paid attention. Obama has all ready made it clear he plans to rule by decree if he is reelected. We don’t have the luxury of being purists this year. You have a choice to live on your feet or die on your knees. Goode is a useless fool who does ONE thing, help elect Obama.
You nailed it my FRiend!

I am against Obama. Sadly, I am also against Romney. Purity has nothing to do with it, at least in the sense you mean. What part of not voting for a pro-abortion, anti-marriage candidate makes me a purist? And, before you ask, I do not believe his recent protestations that he has changed. He has no good track record of telling the truth.

You may think the third party is here now but you are so sorely mistaken. Delude yourself all you want...VG will NOT even poll enough to move the needle on the graph.... less than 1% nationwide. But of course if all you want is a spoiler then you are well set.

Perhapos you don’t remember the fate of Ross Perot? He actually had a following and the money to do something. All he did was get Clinton elected with 43% of the vote. And that worked out sooooo well

“Third option, I'll walk on my own two feet and when the time comes die with a rifle in my arms.”

That's very dramatic. But I want my children to have a chance at a good job. I want to be able to sell my house for what it was worth 2007 or more. I don't want to hear another story of someone I know laid off from a $80,000/year job and now working for $12 an hour.I am sick and tired of going to the emergency room with my child and having to wait hours because it is crammed with illegals. I am sick and tires of seeing good people lose their jobs and their homes. I am sick and tired of seeing thugs and criminals do whatever they want.

You might not care if things continue to get worse but I do.

If Obama is reelected this country will be destroyed. $16 trillion of debt will go to $25 or $30 trillion. Our debt will be downgraded. Businesses will be afraid to hire.

I want to work. I want my children to work. I want to keep my own money.

Obama vs. Stalin would be a tough choice. Obama vs. Romney is a no brainer.

That was a damn goode post. The tuff guys are nothing more than pantywaist whiners who will blame everyone else for what Obama did to them when the fault will be their own.

Well I hope Romney carpet bombs the heck out of Goode and destroys him leaving only pervert Dems to vote for him.

Isn't the GOPE (Romney) for amnesty? Oh, I guess that'll make it better because they won't be illegals then.

I am sick and tires of seeing good people lose their jobs and their homes. I am sick and tired of seeing thugs and criminals do whatever they want.

I am too. I am also sick and tired of of having to compromise freedom and values for the next candidate eight years from now. I'm also sick and tired of these very same things being excused because pork barrel spender has an (R) after their name.

If the voters don't stand by their principles, why should the candidates?

I believe it is morally wrong for me to vote for the man.

But somehow it is morally right for you to allow Obama four more years?

I just don't understand the thinking.

The sound you hear is Obama, Biden and Axelrod popping champagne corks at the White House.

Conservatives and Republicans in VA will have to work doubly hard to keep Obama from carrying VA and thus win reelection, since Obama now will need 48% instead of 50% to win VA’s 13 electoral votes.

What irks me the most is that, for some strange reason, the guys who almost always end up running as spoiler candidates are not the conservative superstars who can make a principled stand, but some third-stringer who possesses no qualifications for the office he or she purportedly is seeking.

Take Virgil Goode as an example. He was a lifelong Democrat who was perfectly content casting the deciding vote in the VA Senate for whatever the Democrats wanted that day, and stayed a Democrat as conservatives in his party increasingly switched to the GOP. He was elected to Congress as a Democrat and was happy to vote for Dick Gephardt for Speaker. Only when it became clear that the GOP would control redistricting in VA after the 2000 Census did he decide to become a Republican (funny, he was untroubled by the Democrats nominating Mondale and Dukakis for president, but when he thought Republicans might stick him in the same district as a Republican incumbent he switched without skipping a beat). Goode continued serving in the House as a backbencher, sticking his foot in his mouth from time to time but not doing anything particularly noteworthy, and somehow managed to run behind McCain in his district and lose to a Democrat in the 2008 election. Virgil Goode would be no one’s ideal of a potential presidential candidate, but there he is, getting on the ballot in VA (with the help of the local Green Party) and trying to take enough votes away from the GOP to get Obama elected and “prove his point” (which I guess is “Obamacare should never be repealed”—at least that would be the likely effect of Goode getting 5%+ in VA).

I opposed Romney’s presidential candidacy in 2008, and fought tooth and nail against Romney winning the nomination in 2012, even running as a delegate for Rick Santorum. Unfortunately, Romney won. The time to “send a message” to establishment Republicans is over and done with: one of two men will be elected president—Barack Obama and Mitt Romney—and all of the “Nobama” voters need to vote for the same “Nobama” candidate to stop Obama’s reelection. We need Obama to be swept out of office, and Romney is the only person with a working broom. A vote for Goode makes it easier for Obama to win reelection.

I’ll be voting for Goode so its a waste of your time to ping me to your tantrum.

I really couldn’t care less.

Well, at least you can ‘splain to those poor babies born alive after an attempt at abortion that were murdered after their birth, that you are really sorry, but you feel pure and all good about yourself. After all, it ain’t your fault that your tax money was used in the slaughter.

You folks use abortion to cover for pure idiocy. The babies are the ones that suffer your sickening purity.

Re-electing Obama is a vote for infanticide.

A “tantrum” is what crybabies throw after voters take away their rattle. See Goode, Virgil.

Sometimes you have to take the lesser of two evils. Obama is evil and is destroying our country. If Obama wins things will be much worse. Romney vs. Obama is the difference between a bad cold and incurable cancer. Even if Romney doesn't make things better he won't make things as bad as Obama.

If you think there is no difference between Obama and Romney then you should add to your gun collection and stack up on ammo. You should probably grow your own food too. Things are going to get bad.

“But not a former rat congressman who took orders from Pelosi for over a decade.”

To be fair, Goode didn’t take orders from Pelosi . . . he took orders from Dick Gephardt. Six of one, half a dozen of the other, but still.
