Barack Obama approaches his nomination for a second term with the lowest pre-convention personal popularity of an incumbent president in ABC News/Washington Post polls since the 1980s. He’s also at his lowest of the year among registered voters, with trouble among women.

Just 47 percent of registered voters in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll see Obama favorably overall, down 7 percentage points from his recent peak in April, while 49 percent rate him unfavorably. He’s numerically underwater in this group for the first time since February.

Real story is women are 50% against.

Obama’s plan was to pick up various minority groups and a huge number of white women voters. If single white women vote 50/50, the election is over.

Could we be seeing a Convention Thud in the making?

What has been bothering me about the polls is that the pollsters have been using Adults and Registered Voters WAAAY too late in the polling cycle.

Me thinks the pollsters, who actually give a F about their reputation are going to use the DNC Convention to start getting polls back in line with what everyone thinks will happen. A Reagan Landslide, and the pollster(s) who "calls it first" is going to get the prize they compete for, relevance.

Could you imagine the pollster who shows O +4 on election night (and leading up to it) who missed the coming a$$ whooping that R2 is about to give Team Zero?

They need relevance to stay relevant.

Check out this link to see how the demographics are shifting away from Obama with all groups, there is a significant shift of white men and women about a third of the way down. Even among income class.

One way to lose the women’s vote is to think it is all about the ovaries and not about the high gas prices, grocery prices, lack of jobs, lack of hopes and dreams coming to fruition, and hearing about foreclosures left and right. I can guarantee you many women are scared and feel it in their bones there is not enough time for hopey changy incomplete forward b.s. after 4 years of this snake oil salesman.

Do any of the recent Presidents have a home worth 35 million??? Buying a 35 million dollar oceanfront property can’t sit well with some people.

This hurry up and find a place to land in 2013 is a sign to me that they know he isn’t going to win.

What's the opposite of a "Convention Bounce"?

Ready for this . . .

Thanks, about the only positive signs for Obama are among
Blacks and Hispanics, and there are problems with those as well.

I bet Bush has something to do with this.

Obama has an apathy problem with the black voters. They came out in 2008. Many don’t care in 2012. This from the mouths of some of the black Americans a friend of mine heard at a flea market in a black region of his town.

Much of it has to do with his stance on gay marriage. That’s a real stumbling block for them. There’s another thread about Black pastors having a meeting on how to talk around this. It’s a real issue.

In a nutshell. The economy is hitting everyone across the board. Even those with DNC credentials. This convention is be more Sham-Wow than Jobs-Now. And people can sense it.

Is it 47% or 42%? Since it dropped 7% from 49%, I’d say 42%.
