The comments by many on FR to this story are disturbing to me. I’ve begun to notice a lot of cynicism lately, much more than I saw nearly ten years ago when I joined.

The story could be true. I want it to be true. But really, what difference does it make? God could have arranged this had he wanted to do so. The important thing is that a woman’s heart was turned and a child’s life was saved. That’s the miracle. The actual circumstances, true or not, mean very little.

My salvation story seems too hockey but God did it.

” It is not in our power or right to take an innocent human life. But as God is the author of all life, he has that power and that right.”

Are you saying that those abortionists are doing God’s bidding? If so, keep that “God” with you. I will defy that God any day of the week.

I remember hearing the story of a preacher of when he was at a ‘Youth for Christ’ rally. There was a banner hung up behind him as he was preaching that said ‘Youth for Christ’.

At the end of the service, a young man came forward and surrendered his life to Christ. The preacher was curious what he might have said that had caused the young man to come forward and give his life to Christ..

The young man told the preacher that it was nothing the preacher had said. The young man told the preacher that as he standing in the pulpit giving his message, he was standing in such a way that he blocked out the ‘t’ and ‘h’ letters on the banner behind him. All he could see from his vantage point were the words ‘You for Christ’. The young man felt God was really speaking to him that night, for him to make Christ the Lord of his life. So he went forward, received Christ's forgiveness from his sins, and gave his life to Christ, making the Lord the lord of his life.

The preacher mentioned that this incident humbled him greatly, and went on to show him the mysterious ways God can work, even without you, to the saving of souls.

Amen!

Then perhaps you reject the Noahic flood?

Gen 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Was Job also wrong?

Job 1:19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. [20] Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, [21] And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. [22] In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

Or did Peter, speaking in the power of the Holy Spirit, err in his assessment of who was responsible for Jesus’ death?

Act 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

Or did the Jerusalem church, also speaking in unison in the power of the Holy Spirit, err in their assessment of Pontius Pilate’s role in Jesus’ death?

Act 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, [28] For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

The only alternative I can see to a God who is in control, is one who is not in control, or a God who doesn’t exist (same thing). As I believe God exists, I must believe that he is also in control, just as much as I believe that abortion is murder, a clear violation of God’s law, and should not be done. There are no easy answers here, but God has given us cause, both to trust Him completely, and to avoid doing evil:

Mat 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. [7] Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

Peace,

SR

“Then perhaps you reject the Noahic flood?”

I only care about relevant facts: abortion is killing tens of millions of innocent unborn child. Do you think God was doing the abortionists’ bidding?

Um, what you are saying isn’t making sense to me. I have given you a rough idea what the Christian view is. I’m guessing from your posting history you don’t believe in God anyway, so your question leaves me wondering what you want me to say. If you don’t believe in God, why would you care who is doing who’s bidding, whatever that means?

To restate my position, I believe God is in control, and that abortion is grievous sin against God’s law. Those who do it God will hold accountable as evildoers, but God will also accomplish all of his purposes, in spite of the evil deeds people do. If you want some other formulation that suits some purpose you have, you will have to be clearer. Sorry.

Peace,

SR

I should have just rejoiced in the aborted abortion attempt rather than picking on a specific reaction. Sorry.

My point was that those who see God’s hand in saving a baby from abortion must not be really seeing how God is letting tens of millions of babies be murdered every year.

You tried to explain away by saying that God has killed a lot of people in the past (eg. Noahic Flood). I am taking exception to the whole notion. That’s all.
