Sponsors are hard to find these days but not as hard as slots in the chase...

Thanks Norm. Missed the last race do to business travels. Hoping for a knock-down drag out helmut throwing regular season finale.

Romney to attend Richmond Cup race
By NASCAR Wire Service
September 07, 2012 3:49 PM, EDT

http://www.nascar.com/news/120907/mromney-at-richmond-race/index.html

Earlier this week, the presidential race moved into the heart of NASCAR country when the Democratic National Convention came to Charlotte, N.C.

On Saturday, the campaign will go on the road with the Sprint Cup Series when Republican candidate Mitt Romney drops in on the last race before the Chase field is set.

This won’t be the first race of the season for Romney, who attended the Daytona 500 in February. Romney enjoys considerable support in the NASCAR community. In mid-August, NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France and team owner Rick Hendrick hosted a fund-raiser for the GOP nominee at the Duke Mansion in the upscale Myers Park section of Charlotte.

Romney’s posture toward the automotive industry, however, has been an issue in the campaign. Under the headline “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt,” Romney wrote an op-ed piece that appeared in the Nov. 18, 2008, edition of The New York Times opposing a bailout for U.S. automakers.

Get your bets in early on this race. A squall line is expected through the region during or very near the start time of the race. It should be on the Ohio-TN river valley this evening.

Yup, nasty squall line. Weather channel says 40% chance of rain/thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon/evening w/some of the storms severe. Same forecast for Sunday also; you know NASCAR is going to be cautious about having a race w/lightning.

Hey, wait a minute, mister. It’s a NIGHT race so you’ve got all day to take care of your weeding unless of course you’re one of those guys who weeds with a flashlite wearing J.J. jammies.

Speaking of Hendrick Motorsports did you read about this?

You might be able to weed you garden both today and tonight. Weather channel has Richmond with a 70% chance of rain at green flag time...it might be a very late race to us west coasties.

Why don't y"all come down out of the hills and enjoy the Cruz"n" Eureka in Old Town starting at 10am. Lady Bender will furnish her world famous cookies. This sweet little flamed 39 Ford 2 door is typical of the entries in last nights Cruz on Second Street...

Was the short notice because you wanted all the cookies for yourself??

Goof’n off today and be back before the projected race time.

We are bailing out. My son lives out of town and we have heavy rain just outside of town now. I think this race will be a rain out. So, we will be watching on TV after all. I have been to rain outs before. It is not fun. The grandstands are not water proof at all. So you go stand under them during the rain and water pours down on you through the gaps between the metal. You can go back to your car but that is no fun either and the car can be a ways away.
