Greek police protesting against austerity cuts blocked the entrance to the riot police headquarters on Thursday, preventing buses carrying riot police from leaving for the site of major demonstrations this weekend.

The government plans to slash police pay in a new round of spending cuts worth nearly 12 billion euros over the next two years. The savings plan is expected to provoke new street protests in the coming weeks by austerity-weary Greeks fed up with repeated wage and pension cuts.

Civil war coming. I am sure there will be significant money and material slipped to the hard left from the West.

It sounds like a lot of the protesters think the gravy train can roll on forward

The left are a gang of cowards, especially in Greece. That’s why they lost the civil war. Remember, often the socialists are the most lazy. Think of what Greek socialists are like! That Golden Dawn anti-immigrant party have been gaining ground and have ties to the old dictatorship, so we may see their flag flying over the country in a few decades. Whatever. As long as they fix their economy and pay their debts, I couldn’t care less who the Greeks put into power, or how they get into power.

"The savings plan is expected to provoke new street protests in the coming weeks by austerity-weary Greeks fed up with repeated wage and pension cuts."

Poor things. I'm sure that many of us will cry for the same pillars of conservatism here (little irony and sarcasm there in regards to the many useless/deleterious regulatory/social offices in the USA). In case you haven't noticed, BTW, the European kind of left-right politics have oozed into our USA over the past few decades. Both sides are socialist. Neither are meaningfully productive, and neither are net taxpayers.
