Hawaii State Legislator Threats Criminal Charges - Then Withdraws Threat - Over Letter to the Editor
Hawaii Reporter ^ | September 4, 2012 | Hawaii Reporter - Editor

Hawaii State Rep. John Mizuno, a Democrat from Kalihi Valley, issued a press release on August 30 demanding an apology and retraction of a letter to the editor published in Hawaii Reporter on August 23.

He also threatened to file criminal and civil charges through the state attorney general over the posting, which Mizuno said included "false and misleading statements." But he later retracted that threat.

The letter, authored by James Macey, was a less than complimentary opinion piece about a hearing he attended on August 8 that was run by Mizuno and peace activists looking to quell violence in our society.

Here's a prime example of why Hawaii is never taken seriously. Hawaii Representative John Mizuno tried to have a newspaper criminally charged for publishing a letter to the editor!

And it all started with Senator Dan "Ear-mark" Inouye trying to organize a local group to tighten already very tight gun-control laws in Hawaii. Not having a clue about the first OR second amendment makes Mizuno a buffoon and absolute idiot!

They get worse by the minute. Just when you think they can’t be any crazier, angrier or immature, they outdo themselves

Take it back, or you’re going to jail! The commies can’t abide free speech or the second amendment...or the fourth amendment...maybe none of the constitution has kept up with their glorious brilliance and progress. Obama’s Homeland Insecurity seys domestic terrorists advocate for the constitution. And he has the power to keeeeel domestic terrorists at his whim.

I can’t believe that nitwit after being interned by the US and fighting the Nazis who had great gun control, wants it for here too. Incapable of learning I guess.

More than a decade ago, Robert Womack, his family, and friends were harassed by officials in Amador County (California) over a paperwork violation, while the county and other government agencies have not been so much as fined over greater environmental violations.

I recall this case from the 1990s and I remember hearing that people supporting Mr. Womack with letters to the editor in the local newspaper were threatened with legal action by both local and state IIRC. Friends of the Womacks were threatened with legal action if the acted in any way to defend Mr. Womack.

This just got totally out of hand and if it were not for Bill Wattenburg of radio station KGO San Francisco and others back then Mr. Womack and family may not have survived the ordeal.

A cursory search found that a lot of the links are missing but the above link tells a good part of the ordeal.

Is there a Democrat politician in Hawaii who is either sane, honest, or both? I’ll answer my own question - NOT FROM WHAT I’VE READ ABOUT IN HAWAIIAN NEWSPAPERS, including the great “Hawai’i Free Press” of Andrew Walden.

Zimmerman is also a great investigative journalist, and has exposed the far-left communists as well as the scam artists of the so-called “Native Hawaii” movement.

Hmm. Dunce vs. Dunce.

I can't wait until the police can station officers in your house w/o permission, after all they are our valiant soldiers in the War on Drugs, right?

There's also Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law and Conspiracy Against Rights, both are federal felonies and worded in such a way that they ought to be used against public official vigorously.

Is this the libertarian “dream” for America or are you just drunk early today?

Apparently you missed the sarcasm... and the reference to the Third Amendment; police are already exempted to a staggeringly large degree from the Fourth, gladly restrict the First and Second, and get free-passes for violating the Fifth and Sixth (the 5/6 violations are a natural result of the militarization of the police).
