registered voters in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll see Obama favorably overall, down 7 percentage points from his recent peak in April, while 49% rate him unfavorably. He’s numerically underwater in this group for the first time since February.
The decline has occurred entirely among women registered voters – from 57%-39% favorable-unfavorable in April to a numerically negative 46%-50% now. That’s Obama’s lowest score among women voters – a focus of recent political positioning – in ABC/Post polls since he took office.
On top of that, according to CNN’s latest poll, Romney’s lead among independents has jumped in the last week from 3 points to 10 points today among likely voters.

A poll of “women” is meaningless, because there are such HUGE differences between the mindset of married women and single women.

If it is true, I will believe it after the election. 2008 taught me that the stupidity of the American voter can never be underestimated.
Ras has Romney only one up today, but Obama still at a dismal 45%. Time for Romney to launch his counter-offensive with an ad blitz that exposes the bogus job numbers and the hyper Fed stimulus.
Perhaps women are finally becoming offended by the Democrats’ “all-gyno-all-the-time” view of them.
Remember how some of the protesters were dressed at the RN convention. It was a woman’s body part. That is how Democrats see women. I think that view of women is biting the Democrats now.
How can he have dropped so much among women? What about the GOP war on women?
Clearly these polls were taken before Sandra Fluke and her speech. I’m sure we’ll see a spike among women now that the convention is over and all of these events register with women voters. (sarcasm)

The shock was particularly acute, as I had spent too much time reading the posts in the FR echo chamber, and had foolishly projected the views of the smart and well-informed Freepers onto the electorate as a whole.
