A judge today refused to overturn former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's commutation of the prison term of one-time Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez' son, Esteban Núñez, who is serving time on a voluntary manslaughter conviction.
Sacramento Superior Court Judge Lloyd G. Connelly characterized as "repugnant" Schwarzenegger's decision to cut Esteban Núñez' prison term from 16 years to seven. Schwarzenegger issued the commutation as one of the final acts of his administration in January 2011.
But even though Connelly said he believed the commutation was an abuse, he said it was still an authority the governor had under his executive powers.

But even though Connelly said he believed the commutation was an abuse, he said it was still an authority the governor had under his executive powers. He's right.
Yes, he’s right. It was a scummy thing to do, an abuse of his legal power, but it was within his power to do it.
The reason he did it was because someone had the goods on his illegitimate child and he was being blackmailed. Of course the meathead’s ego was too large to even consider not running for a second term, even though he’d been compromised. As a result, we were screwed even more than if Gray Davis had continued as governor. .50 cal ban from the “Commando” - go figure. What a POS.
Its OVAHHH!
coulda smelt that one comin’.
I think it’s very simple. The Democrats in the California legislature knew about Arnold’s love child for years and years. They held it over his head and were able to role him again and again. The love child story came out shortly after AS left office, that was no accident.
He still rocked “Conan the Barbarian”, which also has an amazing soundtrack. Just watched it on some channel tonight. Amazing epic, ridiculously underrated.
I Cain’t argew wid dat!!!
It was pretty obvious that he was being blackmailed. He went from Conservative to Liberal overnight.
Whoever voted for McClintock during the recall election - your hands are clean. Vote for whoever has an “R” next to their name - reap what you sow.
I have to disagree, cronyism of that sort ought not be stood for.
I may be technically wrong legally speaking but I’m passed the point of caring.
