Dana is a he not a she. Milbank means Obama is narrowly favored to win in the select liberal bubble of which Milbank is a member. The same people who couldn’t understand why McGovern lost to Nixon in ‘72 because everybody they knew voted for McGovern.

The way Obama is characterized in this article reminded me of an Old Testament reference (King James version) from Isaiah speaking about a future date when people would remark about how -at such (still) future time - how dramatic Lucifer's fall would be, and how small and inconsequential he would then be seen as being.

Key verse: Isaiah 14:12, but some also relevant context is provided:

"9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?

11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13 For thou hast said in thine aheart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the enorth:

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;"

And no, I am NOT saying that this scripture was spoken/written about Obama... just commenting on the apparent similarities in terms of the inevitable future fall - at some point - of those who exalt themselves with incredible arrogance and hubris, to say the least...

Only Democrats (liberals) would take a person like Obama at his word.

...leaving some delegates on the street while lobbyists enjoyed the proceedings inside

I heard there were 5,000 delegates and 15,000 media. That's 20,000 seats right there. In a stadium that holds 74, 000 tops, they didn't have seats for ALL the delegates? That means that over 54,000 seats must have went to special friends and lobbyists, oh yeah, and members of Obama's commie party headquarters.

Man. If I were promised a seat at the big event, and had tickets, and Obama decided to screw me over I would be royally pi$$ed.

The mass hysteria was unlike anything I’ve ever seen...

I don't know how many saw the article posted on this topic yesterday, but it can be read here:

Are You In? On Obama as Weber's Charismatic Leader, and the Decline in Constitutional Governance
The article was originally published in the New Criterion (Link here to mobile version). The piece is very long, but very good. Great weekend reading, albeit somewhat disheartening.

As the influence of Christian faith grows weaker, the opening for secular saviors grows. Now, we've always had our share charlatans and spritual snake-oil salesmen (e.g., Jim Jones, Heaven's Gate, etc), but with Obama, we see their emergence in the political forum. What's worse, Obama has a large constituency. This is what happened in Europe with Musselini, Hitler, and Lenin. Sadly, the USA is on the same trajectory. Secularization--or loss of faith in God if called by it's true name--makes whole peoples susceptible to demagogues and charlatans in the political realm. Our constitution was expressly set up to combat this, but we are now part of the overall decline of the West. Our old ways no longer have the same hold over people's minds that they did 20-30 years ago. Can we pull out of this spiritual decline and avoid the tragic fates of France, Germany, and Fascist Italy? We are now fighting the same forces that wreaked havoc on those countries. We used to fight these forces abroad; now we must fight them at home, and that is a very different kind of battle. The enemy isn't a Nazi, a fascist or a commie "over there," but a an increasing portion of our own citizenry.

That’s absolutely right; the perceived shift in coverage as of late leads me to believe that their internal polls indicate an election day disaster for Obama (that apparently can’t be averted with their normal deceptions),

Is it me or has the media shifted a bit since they early interviews with VP-nominated Ryan? I think the media realizes that it is goin to be Romney/Ryan and they are scared $hitless that they will be made to look foolish when conducting and interview with Ryan and/or in press conferences. He's a detailed oriented policy wonk and the media doesn't read anything past the talking points. Hence, the media folks don't know the actual details of Obama's policies and Ryan's plans.

Unfortunately, Obama is getting a sizable bump from his speech (and that of Moochell and Clinton). Just 3 days ago Romney was up 4 in Rasmussen’s tracking poll, this morning Obama is up 2. Gallup is showing a very large bounce with Hussein’s approval now at 52%. Obama’s speech might have sucked to thinking people, but the masses are sheeple who are huge suckers for appeals to emotion. The majority in this country are still captivated by Obama, they WANT to like him. It is very difficult to defeat someone that the public WANTS to like - he just get the benefit of the doubt almost no matter what he does wrong.

I don’t know the reason, but the fact is that VPs are rarely factors in a decision as big as ending the Obama-worship. His selection may have played a role in helping them determine that the upper midwest would go to Romney/Ryan (thus putting re-election out of reach for Obama), but I don’t really know.

The media probably would have preferred Obama pick another VP just to get some kind of excitement on a tried-and-failed, boring administration. I can’t believe the number of people (not just “regular Joes”, but also people in the media) that have admitted that they don’t listen to Obama’s speeches anymore. While he may have advanced their agenda, he is in fact boring and repetitive and hollow; he can only be as exciting as the teleprompter will allow (really)

Demigod the demagogue.

The candidate, on a stage set resembling a Greek temple, spoke about remaking the nation and the world.

Definition of DEMAGOGUE

1
: a leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power
2
: a leader championing the cause of the common people in ancient times

My pleasure, glad you enjoyed the article.

Yes, the enemy has been inside the gates for decades; but until recently (that is, 20-30 years ago), they felt they had to keep a low profile. We can thank men such as J Edgar Hoover, Whittaker Chambers, Nixon, Sen MacCarthy et al., for holding the revolutionaries at bay for much of the 20th century. We were spared the scourge of Revolution that ravaged Italy, Russia, Germany and Spain.

The revolutionaries have now reached a critical mass and they are out in the open. The neo-gnostic underground now publically bellows against God, Jerusalem, and the natural order at national political conventions. Although they aren’t a majority yet, give it 25 years. Sandra Fluke may be President!

Oh well, it seems Providence has ordained that every country must face this trial by fire. Let us pray that we acquit ourselves well. And we have cause for hope: there is still an America out there, albeit a bit worse for wear these days.
