This Is What A US Strike On Iran's Nuclear Facilities Could Look Like

Robert Johnson
Sep. 7, 2012, 10:50 AM

Washington D.C. foreign policy think tank the Center For Strategic & International Studies took a long hard look at what it really means to thwart Iran's nuclear ambitions, what it would take, and what it could lead to in a report released yesterday.

The speculation that Israel can go it alone against Tehran remains, but the specifics of what's required by a US attack to put the nuclear program in the dust is outlined in detail. At least 16 F-18s, and 10 B-2 bombers carrying 30,000 pound Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs, would initially be required by US forces.

Iran's retaliation would be another story entirely with a massive incoming missile salvo directed about the entire region. When that happens a full Ballistic Missile War could ensue with untold US space, air, sea, and land elements coming into play.

Some illustrations of the possible outcomes are below.

Nothing about Russia in any of these scenarios. Or China. Or the NorKs. To discount any of them is foolish. Obama would be a complete moron to try to pull this off after diminishing our military budgets.

Their assumption misses one ace in the hole. One EMP over somewhere south and east of Isfahan. I am sure most of our naval assets are in some fashion capable of withstanding or quickly recovering from a low to medium grade EMP but I can guarantee you the Iranian civilian assets will not be. Utter chaos would ensue in Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz and Meshad and it would soon be all over.

To answer your question, Russia is only in it for the oil. As they now have plenty of their own, Iran would be nothing more than collateral damage. Same goes for the Chinese and who really gives a flip, other than a flyswatter about the Norks? I mean really now. The reality is that an EMP could be used against the Norks and nobody would know the difference, except maybe at the palace.

Little or no chance now, with Hussein siding with Iran and all the rest of his Moslem buddies.

Meanwhile, the future is looking rather bleak for Israel - which continues, as always, to be our only RELIABLE ally in the Middle East.

Or, at least, it WAS our ally - until Obama shafted the Israelis.

Oh, I think that -- in the end -- things will work out OK for Israel.

Science fiction. Obama would never authorize anything that would help Israel. Just the opposite.

All this talk about EMP’s reminds me of the dreaded FAE, or Fuel-Air-Explosive. The device looked good in theory, and showed some promise in testing, but was never deployed because expected results were never guaranteed.

Trust me, I would love to see an EMP device used for the intended effect, but I wouldn’t put too much stock in it...

IMHO the first warning would be the shift of our naval forces out of the Persian Gulf into less restricted waters.

No matter how good we think our anti-missile weapons systems are, no sane naval strategist would want important assets stationed in there.

O will, on the other hand, authorize an action that will save his presidency and insure his reelection. A preemptive strike on Iran will solidify support for this madman, proving his willingness to oppose Muslims in their stronghold. A strike would turn the election upside down and guarantee his reelection. O knows this and will do so if the manufactured polls turn against him.

I would posit that they already have worked out - we just aren't aware of it yet...

Nifty-looking plan.

The part that's missing is the untold asymmetrical warfare that would ensue on our own soil as a result of this.

” Obama would be a complete moron to try to pull this off after diminishing our military budgets.” OR a genius for moving his plan to destroy America ahead at a rapid pace!! Hope & change you never even thought possible with a “president.” I don’t trust this kenyan commie one iota.

I am not so sure of that. Owebama is desperate. And what would boost him more right now than to ride in like the hero in support of Israel. There’s going to be a shoe dropped before November, and I wouldn’t put anything past Owebama. NOTHING! The man is desperate and he still owes too many people for these four years of fake glory and fame.

I might agree with that if Obama got to where he was alone, on his own merits. But the forces that got him there are thinking more long term. They don't want to harm Islam or empower Israel. They would rather sacrifice Obama and have Romney take the reins for a while.

Why does everyone assume there is going to be a war? Israel learned some very valuable lessons in 2009.

1. There are enough people in Iran who hate the mullahs.
2. Obama supports the mullahs. “It’s an internal matter”
3. Kill the mullahs and the Iranian people will rise up against the regime and probably win. “Remember, it’s an internal matter.”
4. Once you get the change in government, negotiate the nukes away for support of the new government in Iran.
5. Take out Nasrallah and other radical Islamists.”
6. Support a coup by the Egyptian and Syrian generals.

That will cause so much turmoil in the middle east that Israel would be safe for years and Hezbollah and Hamas would be neutralized.

And only 1 shot is fired.
