Obama's 'Gone to Great Lengths' to Keep Gas Prices High, Ryan Says
ABC News/Yahoo ^ | 09/09/2012 | Shushannah Walshe

Posted on 09/09/2012 9:39:32 AM PDT by nhwingut

SAN RAMON, Calif. - Paul Ryan said today the president has gone to "great lengths" to make gas more expensive in this country.

The vice presidential candidate visited Google headquarters in Montainview to hold a Google+ Hangout where he took questions from supporters at campaign offices all over the country, including a question from a senior citizen in Florida named Ruth. She asked him how he was going to "improve the situation" of sky high gas prices.

"This is not just something that squeezes family budgets, it squeezes businesses," Ryan answered. "It also gives us a bad foreign policy in that we are so dependent on other countries for our oil imports, it's the biggest part of our trade deficit and so what's frustrating about the Obama administration's policies are they've gone to great lengths to make oil and gas more expensive."

The average national gas price is $3.82 up from $3.66 just a month ago, according to statistics from the American Automobile Association.

The reporter works hard to spin in Obama's favor. But facts are facts. Hopefully this is a new attack front.

"The average national gas price is $3.82 up from $3.66 just a month ago,"

Here on Long Island, my "cheapest" gas is now $4.15.

If I want it cheaper, I'd have to burn the gas to get me there to get it "cheaper".

FUBO!

HusseinCo and PelosiCo states IL and CA have the highest gas taxes PER PRICE (as opposed to per gallon) in the country.

It’s in their best interests to keep gas prices as high as possible.

Don’t be so harsh on our Obama, leader of the world.

HE is just trying to put as much cash into his saudi brethren’s pockets before their oil runs out. The jihad has to be funded somehow; might as well make the most developed people pay for it!

That is our thoughtful leader at work, doing what we need the most! Focused like a laser.

The gas prices are reflecting the dropping value of the dollar. Obama is keeping the price of every thing up.

I have heard that the US properties have enough oil and natural gas to last us over 300 years even accounting for normal growth...If this is true, why don’t we drill, baby, drill??? Quit supporting the hating ME countries and use OUR OWN oil...Man has gone from a horse and buggy to walking on the moon in 100 years....Surely before 300 years are up, we can find another energy source...nuclear???

I am praying that Obama and his bands of thugs and henchmen are obliterated in November. I despise all that the man does and stands for.

But honestly, what can a sitting president--or a man who is not much of a president--do directly about gasoline prices?

I ask this question in various forums and venues, and I can't get an answer from some conservatives and Republicans who I think are pretty smart.

I've been putting this sticker on gas pumps:

"Somehow we have to figure
out how to boost the price of
gasoline to the [$8-$10/gal]
levels in Europe." - Barack Obama's
Energy Secretary Steve Chu. Had enough yet???

I've sized mine to fit twelve to a sheet of bumper sticker stock...

I’ve been thinking it would be great if stickers were put on gas pumps all over the country stating the price of gas when O took office and the price today. I think that would reach uniformed people how it affects their pocketbooks.

Quite the opposite. Bumper sticker stock is specifically designed to be removed without damage.

I’ve even had a gas station owner request a full sheet.

Yes, bumper sticker material is designed to stay on in the elements.

It is not easy to remove. Quite effective vandalism.

I see reading comprehension is not your strong suit:

Bumper sticker stock is specifically designed to be removed without damage.

I verified that my stickers can be easily peeled off without residue or damage before I started using them.

I'm in California, we don't have "elements" beyond sunshine most of the year.

One does wonder how strong a champion of Liberty you would be when push comes to shove if you are afraid to put a temporary sticker in a public space.

Ah well, I've got your back, even if you daren't lift a finger to help the cause of freedom.

Like most anything else NOTHING.

However if gas went from 1.85 in 08 to .85 today, it would be tolled from the highest mountains about how “HE” was the cause of it.
(Admittedly both parties work the same way, take 100% credit for the good and run away from the bad).

Since ‘they’ have the media on their side, it is up to us to spread the word about the shortcomings etc.

All these—the sort of people that lived in these houses, and all those damn little clerks that used to live down that way—they’d be no good. They haven’t any spirit in them—no proud dreams and no proud lusts; and a man who hasn’t one or the other—Lord! What is he but funk and precautions? They just used to skedaddle off to work—I’ve seen hundreds of ‘em, bit of breakfast in hand, running wild and shining to catch their little season-ticket train, for fear they’d get dismissed if they didn’t; working at businesses they were afraid to take the trouble to understand; skedaddling back for fear they wouldn’t be in time for dinner; keeping indoors after dinner for fear of the back streets, and sleeping with the wives they married, not because they wanted them, but because they had a bit of money that would make for safety in their one little miserable skedaddle through the world. Lives insured and a bit invested for fear of accidents. And on Sundays—fear of the hereafter. As if hell was built for rabbits!

Hmmm?

Just the THREAT of opening more land to drilling has caused an abrupt drop in crude prices.

A real President, not a communist agenda stooge, can do a lot.

What we could have...

What we can't touch according to our "government."

Now, this is a gas map but oil and gas usually trend in the same areas...

So, the Great and magnanimous jug ears has graciously granted some minor concessions with his "new" plan that "opens" offshore exploration and drilling with this...

Look at the shale gas map and the "new plan" from jug ears.

Notice the 800 pound gorilla in the room?

That newly opened area in yellow? There appears to be nothing there.

But hey, little bammy hussein the magnificent, mr. "you’ll love me even more," has, in his omnipresent wisdom, allowed the oil and gas companies to drill all the dry holes they like.

Whoop. Tee. Do.

And what would that do for gas prices?

July 14, 2008. Bush lifts executive ban on offshore oil drilling and...

Note the date where the price breaks and begins to normalize. July 17, 2008.

Two days after the announcement to lift the executive ban.

Two days.

That is what a REAL President can do.

.

One campaign statement he made that he actually kept...

What Romney needs to do January 21st is to fire the first BIG salvos of a sort of “shock and awe” campaign to gut the regulations, agencies, and red tape that contribute greatly to the destruction of American wealth.

A sitting president (if we had one) could call off the EPA dogs from the oil exploration and drilling activities, and reopen federal lands for exploration and drilling leases and permits.

Almost all new drilling permits during Obama's term have been on private land.

Also, as indicated, they are more than willing to take the credit for something they had ‘nothing’ to do with (I ‘killed’ OBL) but can’t imagine why the economy is in the dumpster (I inherited it)....and BOTH parties are to blame, not just these idiots.

Thanks for pointing that out...I had seen it but not read it.

From looking at that, if W had ordered that a month earlier we may have avoided this disaster - even though it was way down by election day, it would have been nice had it been around 1.50 in early Nov.

Then again, with that campaign McLame ran, Kerry could have won.

It is not a public place. It is private property.

I respect the property of others. You and many liberals do not respect the rights of property owners. As long as it fits yours or their agenda, you feel you opinions are more important than respecting the ownership of private property.

You do not represent me nor do your actions support ideals I or real conservatives hold important.

Your actions are little different than an Obama supporter placing his sign on my yard for others to see as they drive by

As to the meltdown, remember when BO pleaded with W to grant the first of the ‘loans or bail outs or stimulus’, before he took office?

That was brilliant as he could not only ‘blame’ bush for the inequities but also had the chance to say he approved them.

I certainly hope for a “Newhart” ending and find out this last 4 years was a nightmare.

America is jumping the rails and you’re worried about a piddly little *sticker* on a gas pump?

If it helps win this fight, I say plaster them everywhere.

Cowboy up.

We’re screwed if the ‘clean fighters’ don’t figure out how to fight a dirty opponent -really- soon.

Your ‘moral high ground’ isn’t gonna count for *squat* when King George rams this country straight into the ground.

When your grandchildren grow up, never having known the -real- America, are you gonna tell them “At least I was civil and respectful when they stomped their boot onto my throat”?

God.

Nobody’s got any guts, anymore.
