Obama's 'Gone to Great Lengths' to Keep Gas Prices High, Ryan Says

SAN RAMON, Calif. - Paul Ryan said today the president has gone to "great lengths" to make gas more expensive in this country.

The vice presidential candidate visited Google headquarters in Montainview to hold a Google+ Hangout where he took questions from supporters at campaign offices all over the country, including a question from a senior citizen in Florida named Ruth. She asked him how he was going to "improve the situation" of sky high gas prices.

"This is not just something that squeezes family budgets, it squeezes businesses," Ryan answered. "It also gives us a bad foreign policy in that we are so dependent on other countries for our oil imports, it's the biggest part of our trade deficit and so what's frustrating about the Obama administration's policies are they've gone to great lengths to make oil and gas more expensive."

The average national gas price is $3.82 up from $3.66 just a month ago, according to statistics from the American Automobile Association.

I don’t understand why this reporter would write this as though he is skeptical of Ryan’s charge - Obama himself has admitted he wants gas prices to rise so people can’t afford to drive as much.

but the question was what can the sitting president do....

Look at the last chart of post 34 to see what an actual sitting president HAS done for gas prices.

Thanks for pointing that out...I had seen it but not read it.

From looking at that, if W had ordered that a month earlier we may have avoided this disaster - even though it was way down by election day, it would have been nice had it been around 1.50 in early Nov.

Then again, with that campaign McLame ran, Kerry could have won.

Anyone have a source for those blame Obama stickers we can put on gas pumps?

See post #17.

I will send a dozen stickers to anyone who FReepmails me their address.

Alternatively, send an email addy and I'll send the Excel file, provided you promise to only use removable stock.

Immeadiately after the fall in gas prices the financial ‘meltdown’ occured and the low gas prices fell off the pages.

It is not a public place. It is private property.

I respect the property of others. You and many liberals do not respect the rights of property owners. As long as it fits yours or their agenda, you feel you opinions are more important than respecting the ownership of private property.

You do not represent me nor do your actions support ideals I or real conservatives hold important.

Your actions are little different than an Obama supporter placing his sign on my yard for others to see as they drive by

Yes, I know....I was going to say Caligula (tall, spindly legs, thin neck etc) cause couldn’t remember ‘Lucifer’.

I certainly hope I am not coming across defending ANY of these fools....because, in the end, we are on the same side etc...
Of course, those of us paying attention realized the SWHTF when BO had his own logo and then ‘invented’ a title “Office of the President Elect”......and I still am ‘suspicious’ of the phony ‘breakdown’ for the oath.
If my ‘suspicions are correct’, Roberts should be impeached.

As to the meltdown, remember when BO pleaded with W to grant the first of the ‘loans or bail outs or stimulus’, before he took office?

That was brilliant as he could not only ‘blame’ bush for the inequities but also had the chance to say he approved them.

I certainly hope for a “Newhart” ending and find out this last 4 years was a nightmare.

Thackney, are you serious?

America is jumping the rails and you’re worried about a piddly little *sticker* on a gas pump?

If it helps win this fight, I say plaster them everywhere.

Cowboy up.

We’re screwed if the ‘clean fighters’ don’t figure out how to fight a dirty opponent -really- soon.

Your ‘moral high ground’ isn’t gonna count for *squat* when King George rams this country straight into the ground.

When your grandchildren grow up, never having known the -real- America, are you gonna tell them “At least I was civil and respectful when they stomped their boot onto my throat”?

God.

Nobody’s got any guts, anymore.

What response to the obama regime is sufficiently mealymouthed and limp-wristed to be acceptable by your standards?

I would despair at the thought that I could tell my children and their children that not only did I do nothing of substance to enable them to breathe free, but to have to admit I bitterly criticized anyone who took even the most minimal actions to spread the truth about his goals.

I would be ashamed to show my face in public lest anyone who loves freedom might recognize me.

I thank an almighty and powerful God that you repudiate me, I couldn't bear that thought that anyone confused me with the likes of you.

May the chains your decedents proudly wear be a just memorial to your courage. May your daughter's virtue be the altar where the government you gave her holds its annual abortion sacraments.

And most of all, may no one ever know that we ever crossed paths.

Obama should loose all fifty seven states just on gas prices...on a 7500 mile trip....Detroit 4.11....Illonois and Wisconsin. 4.00 cannot wait to get to California

Thackney, are you serious?

Very.

If it helps win this fight, I say plaster them everywhere.

Why stop there? What other private property are you willing to deface?

I am just amazed at the idea is pushed by conservative.

We’re screwed if the ‘clean fighters’ don’t figure out how to fight a dirty opponent -really- soon.

If we no longer respect the property of other, and believe we can take it over for our purpose, because we think it is important enough, then I would say we are already screwed.

Why bother if we will not try to change the country for the better. If we can plaster over other peoples property because we think our cause is important, then why stop there?

If we don't respect the rights of others, if we have to trample over other peoples rights because our cause is so important, we have already lost.

You may see it as a simple and little thing. That is the attitude that promotes the so called patriot act, TSA and the rest of the junk that tramples the rights of the individual.

I will have no part of it. And if Free Republic starts promoting such vandalism of private property, I will have not part of it either.

Jim,

Is Free Republic to be a site to promote vandalism of private property, as long as the “cause” is great enough?

Slow day?

I will put stickers on to things. The stickers can be easily removed without marking or damaging anything.

Perhaps you're are familiar with the development of post it notes by using glue that didn't stick very well. The 3 M employee's wife used them to mark hymnals.

The previous poster is using bumper sticker stock.

That is hardly a post-it note. Far different in trying to remove material designed to stay on a car bumper for years.
