Cokie Roberts: 'This Democratic Convention Was Really Over the Top in Terms of Abortion'
NewsBusters ^ | September 9, 2012 | Noel Sheppard

"I think this Democratic Convention was really over the top in terms of abortion. Every single speaker talked about abortion. And you know at some point you start to alienate people."

So astonishingly said ABC's Cokie Roberts on Sunday's This Week (video follows with transcript and commentary):

People who endorse abortion are pure evil. There are still many Americans who recognize evil when they see it, and the arrogance of the, thrice denying, God-hating DNC’s evil is as offputting as it gets.

Oh Cokie, Cokie, Cokie.

You think you people in the Democrat (Abortion) Party can take on just a little abortion into your party mission.

You cannot. It will go to the maximum. Watch and see. They’re not done yet. The father of the movement has no limits. None.

Honestly, these journalists. The Catholic ones like her. They can’t take one Sunday afternoon and read Humanae Vitae but they can pretend to shape popular thought.

Ignorance.

“...at some point you start to alienate people.”

Cokie, are you trying to say that murdering innocent babies might upset a few folks? Ya’ think?

Wow, there is hope for liberals, yet! They are a mite slow to catch on, though...

Most Americans hate abortion. For decades, the left has been masterful at working hard to keep almost all abortions legal, while pretending that abortion is “rare” and happens only in cases such as rape and when the mother’s life is in jeopardy. What Cokie ROberts et al are objecting to is the DNC’s letting the cat out of the bag: abortions are common and most happen for the sake of convenience. CR was not (really) objecting to those realities, she was just warning the left that if the real story gets out, abortion on demand as the law of the land will be imperiled.

"Henry IV, 16th Century France"

Well, upon further review, it was the Hoover campaign of 1928, not FDR, that plagiarized Henry IV (thank you for the info, btw); so I'm just going to have to withdraw the remark completely.

crap.

This is real interesting....

This article and one by Margaret Carlson both saying their party position on abortion is extreme and hurting the party ....

There must have been some internal polling that shows a lot of Americans are aghast at the blood thirsty nature of the DNC abortionpoolza feast....

Of course no real concern about slaughtering the innocent.... Just the position is too extreme...

“PRAY for God’s mercy on our country.”

Sometimes God’s greatest mercy is when He “turns up the heat” so much that people & nations begin to repent.

Remember the little bird that waited too long to fly south!

Coolidge may also have lifted the expression but the evidence is thin ~ a speech or something ~

Glad this came up ~ Mexico just went through the gyrations of combating bird flu ~ they had to slaughter 11 million birds, they vaccinated 88 million, and they are preparing to vaccinate another 90 million.

Mexico has 112 million people ~ so that's 181 million birds for about 90 million IN Mexico and another 20 million IN the United States.

That means Mexico isn't quite up to where the US was when it comes to chickens in the 1930s!

Our politicians were promising a chicken in every pot ~ presumably one a week ~ and Mexico can give its people about one chicken a year ~ laying hens being in service for about 2 years with a good production record.

The result is Mexicans eat an awful lot of eggs, but few chickens. Other Central Americans have even fewer chickens.

We have a custom in Springfield VA ~ lots of Salvadorans around here ~ one night a week the men in a work group, or family, get together at a Colonel Sanders or Popeyes and EAT CHICKEN.

They will buy a bucket, eat it, buy another bucket, eat it and work from there into night when the store closes. All that's left when they are done is a little pile of white bones. Even the cartilege is gone ~ there are no grease residues, and no napkins are wasted ~ something gets on the fingers or the hand it gets eaten.

Thank God I live in a nation with spare chickens ~ with a veritable gusher of chickens ~

Democrats’ obsession with abortion mirrors the muslims’ obsession with blood-letting.

No, she made an observation of a strategic mistake.

a pro abort Catholic layperson..no shortage of them

shame they do not listen to their clergy, there is no ambiguity in the church’s stance

even if some nuns are absolute nuts for the Dems

my church is pretty firm on abortion...as in no way can a member be public in support of it

why doesn’t the church simply excommunicate these people?

isn’t that what they are supposed to do...it would sure suit me

Yeah, a room full of unaborted former fetuses talking about aborting/killing current fetuses. Think they maybe waking up to the realization of the reality of how lucky they were to have made it to full-term?

They ARE excommunicated. It doesn’t work like our legal system. It’s like this: they take communion with mortal sin on their souls and they compound the sin. They are supposed to repent (change) and get to confession, in order to be not excommunicated.

Anyway, they get sanctioned eventually, but not here.

Cardinal Burke did have it right when he refused to give communion to persons publicly espousing abortion rights.

But Catholics know from formation that it is a mortal sin to promote abortion/murder. They are excommunicated.

CR was not (really) objecting to those realities, she was just warning the left that if the real story gets out, abortion on demand as the law of the land will be imperiled.

When they kill 50 to 60 million helpless babies in 40 years, I don't think there is an American, including Cokie Roberts, who doesn't understand the full implication of that butcher industry or the serial killers that populate it.

What I think Americans don't appreciate is how that assembly line of butchers diminishes women. I wonder how many women who accessed this safe legal procedure over the years have ended up committing suicide because they could not assuage their consciences.

Disclaimer: I'm neither a psychologist nor a psychiatrist. Still, I personally know two women who have had abortions. One used to be a close friend. Both of these women later went nuts. Is "nuts" a clinical term?

I wonder if it hurts a baby when you cut it to pieces in a third trimester abortion...or a second.

I wonder if it hurts a baby in the middle of a partial birth abortion when a butcher puts his or her head in a huge pliers and squeezes his or her head until his or her brain pops out.

I wonder how anyone can be such a ghoul as Obama and most of the people that attended that convention. I wonder how anyone can be a Democrat. I wonder how anyone can vote for one.

Polls would suggest the pro-death tone was just right.

Most who watched any of the DNC only watched the evening speakers (Moochelle, Clinton, Obamaugabe), and did not see any of Abortionpalooza.
