If you accused Mitt Romney of dressing up like Satan and wearing red tights and someone else said no that’s wrong, you would count that as “defending Mitt Romney.”

Nice strawman HTR. Cheap and unprincipled debating tactics by Romney supporters seems to be commonplace, much like the constant lying by Romney about being Pro-Life, a Conservative, believing marriage is between a Man and Woman, stating he was "A severely conservative Governor of Massachusetts, and stating he "Has always been Pro-Life".

Mitt Romney wouldn't know the truth if it bit him in the butt; sadly, many of his supporters seem to be suffering from the same lack of character.

This is not a new story. Its ramifications have been well discussed.

But whenever it pops up in some medium, it’s like dragging a $50 bill through the proverbial trailer park.

The unmasking of Newsmax, as it joins the maimstream media in telling the story in a way where the headline will get the most readers, even if the details won’t.

The first part is as Newsmax and others put “Obamacare” in Romney’s mouth, which, even when discussing certain insurance provisions Romney does not do.

Romney never speaks of keeping any provision of Obamacare “as is”.

Romney spoke of two areas of health insurance “reform” that he too would seek to put in place.

“One is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage. Two is to assure that the marketplace allows for individuals to have policies that cover their family up to whatever age they might like.”

Notice that, in reference to “pre-existing conditions” Romney says “can get coverage” and unlike Obamacare he does not say “your employer’s plan must include it. No where does Romney say he supports how these parts of health insurance reform were addressed in Obamacare.

And there were Republican recommendations on both those conditions that were ignored by the Dims when they pushed through Obamacare, such as “high risk pools” to cover pre-existing conditions and three different “markeptplace” reforms that would broaden the ability to keep older children in “family” coverage of their parents.

But, it’s much easier to put the “Obamacare” word in Mr Romney’s mouth and to leave the image that even in this limited way Romney would enact the same things “as is” from Obamacare.

Yet, that is not what Mr Romney said.

Therefore I am voting for Rombag as it will buy us time to get Constitutional minded people in fed and state office.

I wonder how many Republicans in Massachusetts felt that way only to see their party destroyed by Romney and his Progressive Liberal antics as Governor.

That’s just the way you’ve been going after things. That puts you in the same situation that C. S. Lewis described that will turn men into devils.

Sadly, my original prognostication is probably incorrect; I simply had more faith in the principles of Americans, especially conservatives that I should have.

You believe that Romney will win, but are disappointed that conservatives have been fooled into voting for him, is that correct?

"Make all the excuses you want for Romney and his penchant for Socialized Medicine, but he has not changed and you are backing a Progressive Liberal and pretending he is not."

Forget excuses!! We have a real life situation. We know POSITIVELY that Obama will go full steam ahead with it - so whatever Romney does - at least there is some hope that HE can be stopped - but NO WAY WITH OBAMA!!

I am a conservative, and happen to be an RN. There are parts of health care reform that will remain NO MATTER WHO GETS ELECTED just because they happen to make fiscal sense. For example, the parts that stipulate that health care providers should be rewarded for keeping their patients healthy, versus sending them fat checks for care provided after you are already sick. Teach a patient with Congestive Heart Failure how to stay well with proper diet and medications, and reward that, versus rewarding docs only when people have disease complications and need hospitalization. Private insurers are going to adopt a lot of the reforms on their own because it will save them money and keep patients healthier.

I am NOT in agreement with socialized medicine and think it is WRONG. For many reasons, but mostly because of the disparity in care it will create. But, that's a big topic for another post.

Another distinction without a difference.

Whether he used the word "ObamaCare" isn't the issue to a conservative but whether or not he is truly willing to do away with the monstrosity that is ObamaCare completely.

He is not; he wants to keep many facets of ObamaCare, and much like his RomneyCare, will more than likely be pushing for the Individual Mandate as well shortly.

He has already reneged on his Pro-Life pledge, why would you think any of his so-called conservatism is to believed?

Those things are far from ideal.

The idea of insurance as a hedge against utter disaster has devolved into maintenance plans for health. It would be like car insurance that covered oil changes.

That said, the insurance plans DO get deals with health care providers that Joe Blow walking in off the street can’t get.

Is there some way purchasing power can be brought to bear so that those who have potentially costly conditions can at least get a reasonable deal when caring for them? It will need lots of discussion and debate. No way some committee fed on pizza and beer can hack it out in a month.

Sorry, but there is nothing conservative is the government legislating this behavior.

Being conservative means knowing the proper role of government, this is not it. This is the responsibility of the individual.

Keep it up, Willard. Keep it up. Remember, even if you do get elected, we won’t hesitate to show up en masse at the Mall like we did in 2009...

I wasn’t going to vote for Rombag until a couple of days after he picked Ryan. Then I did some deep thought and some reading about DBA 0kaka.

DBA 0 will utterly destroy our country. He and those who put him where he is are enemies. They are infinitely worse than Rombag, as much as I loathe Rombag. Rombag will not set up detention camps for good AMericans, nor force euthanasia on us, nor kiss the a** of Muslim Brotherhood Jew haters, and on and on and on.

DBA 0bama is utterly dangerous. Rombag is merely a scum sucking liberal pantywaist Republican. He buys us time.

He tossed in “health of the mother” without defining it. That asks for clarification, not knee jerk name calling.
