Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is speaking out for the first time about the Navy SEAL who continues to make headlines with his revealing book about the night Osama bin Laden was killed.
Panetta spoke with "CBS This Morning" co-host, Norah O'Donnell, and while he maintained that Americans have a right to know details about the raid, he came out against the SEAL -- who goes by the pseudonym Mark Owen -- and his book. "There's no question that the American people have a right to know about this operation," Panetta said. "But people who are a part of....

I’ve got my copy so I can compare it with the redacted copy that is published by “Leon’s” staff
What, no redacted copy?
Hmmm
Maybe all the real “grave damage” to US security was already done by BigMouth Tom Donilon in the NYT, and in the stacks of CIA docs obamugabe’s handlers gave the Hollywood filmmakers for their puff piece on big brave Puff Daddy, eh Leon?
Never forget all the rat-faced US Senators voted 100 to 0 to confirm Commie Leon Panetta as DOD Chief!
In my above comments, I meant the way that CBS handled the story this morning on the CBS Morning Show.
Weren’t several members of Seal Team Six killed in a helicopter crash a few months after the raid?
this was after they were identified by Obamma et al.
I would argue that the Obamanistas deliberately exaggerated the circumstances in order to change perceptions.
Just last week at the DNC, Obama said it was only 50/50 that Bin Laden was at the compound.
According to the book, the CIA was 100% sure. 100%.
Also, the media kept pushing the narrative about what a “gutsy” call it was to approve the raid. While I agree that it was a bold and aggressive move, it was also a no-brainer. And he apparently hemmed and hawed about it before making a decision.
I am grateful this SEAL set the record straight.
I told you that I hadn’t read the book, that I only know what I had read on the internet. I guess that I was wrong.
That is not what I read. I read it was a capture or kill. The SEAL went to great pains to explain why he couldn’t be captured. Why would be bother with that? This is based on excerpts and welcome clarifications. I could be mistaken. I just don’t see anything here other than sloppy debriefing and differing accounts. I don’t see a gotcha here
The "nails in the coffin" were the bursts of fire into bin Laden's chest even though he was alread well head-shot. Nobody does that if there were any orders to try to take him alive. You'll also note that there wasn't any mention in their preparation of restraints/hoods/cuffs or anyone with real arabic language skills. If you were going to capture a high-profile target like bin Laden, a self-taught member of the SEAL team is not adequate.
It was an assasination mission - which is fine if that's the best thing for our country - but we deserve the truth, not some fairy story from our leaders.
Pinheada and the rest of the oblunder admin are acting ridiculously. Puleez...if there were REALLY national secrets at stake in the book, they would have gone to court for a quick injunction against printing it, and gotten the injunction.
Do yourselves a favor and head to your nearest local bookstore and pick up a copy. It’s the American way.
If there was an angle to this to justify lying you probably have it. To obama the important thing is that the operation makes him look good. What you posted makes sense.
Obama outranks them, they’ll have to accept this behavior.
There are a LOT of 1-star reviews and by far the majority are military men who are upset that this Seal wrote this book.
They say it's a betrayal of the team, he just did it to get rich, etc.
Don't know exactly what the motives are. But it was pretty common knowledge that Obama was going to make a movie on the raid and take credit. It's possible this guy's motive was purely to pre-empt Obama's move by making sure the Seals got the credit.
I’m certain there are plenty of those who CLAIM to be military who are upset....
I wonder, if in their 1 star reviews, these “military” people express disdain for Obamugabe revealing the SEAL team that did the job?
“This SEAL is in serious trouble if DoD decides to risk the PR backlash and prosecute him.”
Were I President the last thing I’d want to do is to piss off a SEAL and, perhaps, his friends.
Yes, there are quite a few comments disdaining Hussein, but the primary point of debate is the book.
Take a look...(312 reviews alreaady posted...that's a lot for a book that just came out a few days ago...far more positives than negatives though.)

“or anyone with real arabic language skills”
“Nobody does that if there were any orders to try to take him alive.”
“some fairy story from our leaders.”
I believe that you’re making some errant assumptions.
Hey, for the record, I’m ok with them killing him. For what it’s worth.
For the record, I'm OK with Osama being dead too - but I think it would have been better to snatch him alive and make him go through the full rigorous interrogation regime and suffer for a while - a long while. As it was, our trigger happy shooter tapped him in the brain and he didn't feel a thing. We got a ton of information out of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and we could have gotten a lot more out of UBL - like where his next in command is hiding.
The world, particularly the Islamic world, would have been much more impressed if we'd brought him back in chains. We didn't because our president and his lawyers didn't want to risk it and maybe because the SEALs aren't the right bunch to send if you want to capture someone.
