Chicago teachers went on strike today for the first time in 25 years. 400,000 students and their families were affected. Teachers in Chicago are the highest paid in the nation and make an average $74,839 a year.
It took less than 24 hours for the Chicago Teacher’s Union to start using kids in their strike protests.

she (Karen Lewis) is bragging about smoking weed in college, cracking homophobic slurs about Education Secretary Arne Duncan’s lisp, and whining about teachers being “demonized” at a “social justice” conference:
Here’s Lewis chumming it up with former Communist Party leader Michael Klonsky, who praises her as a “fist-in-the-air, crowd-rousing, dynamic union leader.” Asked to explain increasing dissatisfaction with public education, Lewis blames lack of respect for government union teachers’ leaders on…”lower class students” and “students of color.” It’s always someone else’s fault:
“People are impressed,” Lewis riffs. “Let me tell you, I spent those (college) years, smoking lots of weed, self-medicating, self-medicating. Thank you. Sounds like you all did, too. I’m, sorry — there are kids here. I wasn’t supposed to say that — right? Too late.” (Chicago Sun Times)
Chicago, November 16, 2011- That was Chicago Teachers Union president, and American Federation of Teachers vice president, Karen Lewis. She was giving the keynote address at the Northwest Teaching for Social Justice conference in Seattle on October 1st of this year. By the way, what is teaching for social justice? Why do people have to teach it?
Ms. Lewis also made what can be described as a homophobic slur about U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, for which she has since apologized.
“Karen Lewis is a good soul,” Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, said in a statement. “She did the right thing by apologizing to Secretary Duncan. Karen regrets what she said and I regret it.” (Huffington Post)

Mike Klonsky, an Obama supporter and former associate of the radicals who formed the terrorist group the Weatherman, received a $175,000 grant from the William Ayers/Barack Obama-led Annenberg Challenge to run the Small Schools Workshop.
Klonsky belonged to the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and was best friends with friends William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn who later became famous for their acts of terrorism.
Later he started a blog on the Obama website:
Between 1979 and 1981, Communist Party chairman and Obama supporter Mike Klonsky was repeatedly feted with state-dinner-level visits to Beijing.
And get this… Klonsky reportedly shared offices on the same floor with Barack Obama and Bill Ayers at the University of Illinois, Chicago campus.
So it should come as no surprise that Mike Klonsky, the former Communist Party leader, is a huge supporter of Karen Lewis, head of the Chicago Teachers’ Union. Chicago teachers went on strike today for the first time in 25 years despite the fact that the average teacher salary in Chicago is $74,839 a year.
Last night, Lewis mocked public charter schools that are defying the strike and doing their jobs as not “real” schools.
Lewis called the mayor “a liar and a bully” and on Sunday threw a dig at charter schools, saying “real schools” would not be open when union members went on strike yesterday.

Obama, Ayers and Klonsky all officed in the same building when Obama was "chairing" the Annenberg Challenge.
Ayers was director of the foundation. His office was directly across the hall from Obama's. Klonsky, styled as an "education consultant", officed down one flight.
About 90% of the money that Obama distributed -- under the direct guidance of Ayers -- went down that flight of stairs and into Klonsky's schemes.
Which accomplished nothing. NOTHING! Except, perhaps, enrich the local Communist cell...
Fat and Dumb. It would make a good sitcom if it weren’t true.
Southern IL small school district, junior high students go to first year high school having to take a “do over” class in English and a “do over” class in science (I think) ....thus they do not get to take the AG class they have looked forward to.
