NM poll shows Obama with small lead over Romney

A new statewide poll commissioned by The Albuquerque Journal shows President Barack Obama with a relatively small lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney and 8 percent of voters still undecided.

The poll suggests that New Mexico's presidential race may be more competitive than national pundits and polls have previously suggested.

The Journal poll (http://bit.ly/U2Jeuq ) published Sunday in a copyright story shows 45 percent of those surveyed backed Obama and 40 percent supported Romney. Another 7 percent backed the Libertarian candidate for president, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson.

This is an encouraging development, given that this was thought to be safely in Obama’s column. Gary Johnson may be taking more support from Obama than Romney.

Particularly amazing when you see that the party ID difference is 16 points! That’s a lot of ground to make up.

I’m only 9 miles from Texas. Thinking I should take the plunge and get away from this train wreck.

Sen Mike Lee (R-UT) told Mark Levin tonight that the Senate seat in MD is in play due to the arrival of the third party candidiate.

??? I thought there were two Conservatives running in MD, the Republican and an Independent. How is that seat remotely in play ?

No. In MD the third party candidate is NOT a conservative he is a leftist according to Mike Lee.

If MD elects a GOP, then Obama is looking at winning less than 10 states nationally.

Cardin is sitting on $6 million. Bongino doesn’t even have $500k (and Sobhani has less than half of that). That’s not even financially competitive. I’ll be shocked if Cardin gets less than 60%. We need to be helping candidates who have the best shot at winning, and I include Akin in MO, and the party needs to stop acting hostile towards him when he is still tied with McCaskill.

Looks like Romney is closing the gap.

From what I am hearing, Romney is not spending any money for campaign signs to distribute. Other states are more important than NM’s small electoral votes...

Looks like Romney is closing the gap.

There is a number of military facilities in NM and many ex service people. The mess in the middle east is going to change a lot of opinions in NM and through out the country.

this will be a wake up call for the many Americans. Romney up by ten in a week or so depending on how badly Obama bungles this crisis.

Rob Sobhani?

Whatever he is it’s to imagine him getting more than 5% tops.
