Statement on the Death of American Personnel in Benghazi, Libya
State Dept ^

Press Statement Hillary Rodham Clinton Secretary of State Washington, DC

September 12, 2012

It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the death of four American personnel in Benghazi, Libya yesterday. Among them were United States Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and Foreign Service Information Management Officer, Sean Smith. We are still making next of kin notifications for the other two individuals. Our hearts go out to all their families and colleagues.

A 21 year veteran of the Foreign Service, Ambassador Stevens died last night from injuries he sustained in the attack on our office in Benghazi.

I had the privilege of swearing in Chris for his post in Libya only a few months ago. He spoke eloquently about his passion for service, for diplomacy and for the Libyan people. This assignment was only the latest in his more than two decades of dedication to advancing closer ties with the people of the Middle East and North Africa which began as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco. As the conflict in Libya unfolded, Chris was one of the first Americans on the ground in Benghazi. He risked his own life to lend the Libyan people a helping hand to build the foundation for a new, free nation. He spent every day since helping to finish the work that he started. Chris was committed to advancing America’s values and interests, even when that meant putting himself in danger.

Sean Smith was a husband and a father of two, who joined the Department ten years ago. Like Chris, Sean was one of our best. Prior to arriving in Benghazi, he served in Baghdad, Pretoria, Montreal, and most recently The Hague.

All the Americans we lost in yesterday’s attacks made the ultimate sacrifice. We condemn this vicious and violent attack that took their lives, which they had committed to helping the Libyan people reach for a better future.

America’s diplomats and development experts stand on the front lines every day for our country. We are honored by the service of each and every one of them.

Wow, and I thought the Muslim Islamic societies would dance in delight that they have a beloved friend in the White House. I guess that didn’t work...or those trips abroad telling them that they’ve always been victims.

There has to be some additional pieces of the story. What happened to the Marines who guarded the embassy? Were they told to ‘stand down’ and let the Mohammedans ‘protest’? Were any Marines killed?

I am watching CNN now with Jamie Rubin. The first thing he said was to blame the people responsible for making the film. Free speech be damned as though this justifies or legitimizes such attacks.

Rubin now wants the USG to figure out a way to condemn hateful speech. Forget about the Constitution.

THIS **USED TO BE** AN ACT OF WAR!!

How far have we emasculated ourselves, with this queer imposter of a president!

It’s time to quit bowing, and time to kick ass!

Send in the mother-loving U.S. Marines, NOW, and deal with it!!

That is how Jefferson did it, and this is how it should be done, today!

Why in the world would we send our broken military into Libya? We can’t change this part of the world we must get our troops our of the Middle East and secure our own Country. I would go for a carpet bombing of the middle east but no boots on ground. Romney I hope has a plan to get them out of that hell hole.

I don’t get it. When “artists” spread feces on a picture of Christ that was defended as art and free speech with no regard to the feelings of Christians.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep He suffers, away with shame and fear;
Where’er ye meet with evil, within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles, and put the foe to rout.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the trumpet call obey;
Forth to the mighty conflict, in this His glorious day.
Ye that are brave now serve Him against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger, and strength to strength oppose.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the Gospel armor, each piece put on with prayer;
Where duty calls or danger, be never wanting there.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, each soldier to his post,
Close up the broken column, and shout through all the host:
Make good the loss so heavy, in those that still remain,
And prove to all around you that death itself is gain.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle, the next the victor’s song.
To those who vanquish evil a crown of life shall be;
They with the King of Glory shall reign eternally.

A vicious attack on American soil and this is how we respond? Just letting the next-of-kin know?

Seems we Americans will operate around the world like they do in the baddes places in our inner cities: lock the doors, don’t talk to anyone, bar the windows, and accept you will get mugged, raped or shot at some point, simply hoping it is not you.

The days of America’s greatness in the world are toast if we do not immediately fire off an angry that we will find and kill the perpetrators of this heinous event and hold the host country equally responsible if we do not get support equal to our own.

Were they told to ‘stand down’ and let the Mohammedans ‘protest’? Were any Marines killed?

And were the Marine guards allowed any ammo for their weapons?

Two were killed according to reports.

Never to the Left. The #s in power wanted to treat 9-11 as a criminal action.

I concur, angcat. There is no amount of money one could spend on these hellholes, and no military interventions of any duration, that will drag these savages forward to even the 18th century.

We should cut off all funding to them, get our military out of their countries, bomb them when necessary, and—most importantly—never import them into our own country. Keep the cancer out of the body.

I would like to go on a world apology tour and visit all nations to express my sorrow about inflicting our president on them. Hopefully we will still have a few friends left after Nov.
