Romney Assails Obama Anew Over Foreign Attacks

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Republican challenger Mitt Romney sought to portray President Barack Obama as weak on foreign policy Wednesday after violent attacks on U.S. diplomatic missions in the Middle East.

...

Romney used the attacks as an opening to assail Obama during an appearance in swing state Florida, accusing the administration of sending "mixed signals to the world" and failing to lead in the face of violence.

Romney had jumped to criticize Obama as the attacks were being waged on U.S. diplomatic missions in Egypt and Libya. Angry mobs attacked the facilities to protest an obscure film by a California filmmaker that ridiculed Islam's Prophet Muhammad.

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo initially issued a statement that criticized the film. Romney, trailing Obama in public opinion polls on their leadership on foreign policy, quickly pounced with a statement before news of the diplomats' deaths, saying the administration's response seemed to "sympathize with those who waged the attacks."

Romney read a brief statement mentioning Egypt and contending that Obama is a weak leader. He then invited questions from reporters, who asked if it was an appropriate tone to take given the deaths and that the White House said it disagreed with the embassy statement. Romney stood firm.

"The president takes responsibility not just for the words that come from his mouth, but also for the words that come from his ambassadors, from his administration, from his embassies, from his State Department," Romney said. "They clearly sent mixed messages to the world. The statement that came from the administration — and the embassy is the administration — the statement that came from the administration was a statement which is akin to apology. And I think was a severe miscalculation."

Absolutely, Marines would have protected their ambassador. No doubt about that.

I hear you, but I’ll say it again, “but for the lamestream, Romney would be at 60 percent and the Marxist left at his hardcore base 40 percent.”

Romney has a lot of money and he must win the debates.

The Marxist can and will use “a war” to keep himself in office. He’s THAT depraved and worse.

I have put my trust in God.

I have no problem with his speaking out.

Nor do I, and many others. I know there's an old saying about "Politics stops at the water's edge", but beyond the water we need to project a strong United States, not a sniveling cowards's response like Bambi's.

Analysis right on. You can’t flatten every nation in the world, including the Euros, where there are Muslims. So you pick and chose your wars, and let the thugs keep the rest in line. After Bush de-fanged Khaddfi, he was insignificant as a threat. Mubarak was never a threat to us.

The next question is (and I don’t have the answer) why in the heck aren’t they using Marines? Too offensive to Muslim sensiblilites maybe? If I was an Ambassador in a foreign country, especially one with recent war/strife going on, I would want my own country’s military protecting me - I know they would die protecting me, not tipping off the enemy as to my whereabouts. What a cluster you-know-what.

Carter is Obama. Obama is Carter.

Both are Traitor Losers who hate America!

Jimmy Carter's presidency was doomed by the Iranian hostage crisis after the US embassy in Tehran was stormed by Islamist extremists following the Iranian revolution.

A year after the 52 Americans were taken hostage, Carter lost the 1980 election. The hostages were released just as President Ronald Reagan, who defeated Carter, was sworn in.

Thanks to RushIsMyTeddyBear and Focaulut's Pendulum and for these graphic art realities!

Obama the little Pansy. It’s an act of war.

Not to him; they are carrying out his mission just fine.

Romney did very well. I really hope this convinces those who think there’s no difference between Obama and Romney that they might be mistaken.

No one truly believes that there is no difference. They might enjoy making the claim, but they cannot possibly believe it.

Obama would probably say this is not as bad as the hostage crisis.

1979: it went on for 444 days and all hostages survived.

Now: In this case they took no hostages - they just burned down the place and killed our ambassador and others. Obama would say its over and time for T time in vegas.

What would be wrong with telling the world they have three days to get their people out of Benghazi because by Monday morning that city will cease to exist?

Then again...most people nowadays don’t even know what “flak” is, I suppose.
