Will Romney's Foreign-Policy Fumble Doom His Campaign?(Lefty Panties in a Twist Alert)

Will Mitt Romney look back on this day as the blunder that doomed his campaign?

It's too soon to tell, of course. But the reaction to his recent foreign-policy moves has been overwhelmingly negative, from Republicans and Democrats alike, to the point that some wonder whether it could begin to disqualify him in voters' minds.

Romney's response to the incidents of the last 24 hours -- the storming of the American embassy in Cairo and the killing of the American ambassador and three others in Libya -- is widely being regarded as hasty and ham-handed. From his initial statement late Tuesday, which accused the Obama Administration of "sympathiz[ing] with those who waged the attacks," to his Wednesday morning press conference reinforcing that criticism, Romney, critics say, appeared overly eager to turn the tragedy into a political wedge, and insufficiently respectful of the gravity of the situation.

Who are these supposed critics on the right?

Some "unnamed" congressional sources. A desperate for attention former McCain retread. And apparently, although I haven't heard the remarks, the ever reliable Peggy Noonan.

Always good to know what the enemy is up to. You can tell how damaging this is to The Empty Chair by how quickly the MSM got on board with a coordinated attack response.

Way to go, Mitt! Keep it up!

This is what happens when the media and the White House are in cohoots with each other you have this. Romney FINALLY for once showed some damn backbone. I disagree with NOTHING that he said in his statement last night, but the media knows that Obama looks AWFUL right now so they are trying to turn this into a war on Romney. When you attack Americans on US Embassy soil its an act of war..PERIOD

Does anyone disagree with what Romney said regarding the regime's Egyptian apology or Romney's right to say it? Had Obama been as forceful in a timely manner maybe Bengazi doesn't happen. There is a sh%t storm coming and may wish to close their eyes and pretend it isn't happening, maybe if we are just nice.

Maybe having a spine disqualifies a person from the presidency. But if what Romney said is correct now, it was correct when he said it no matter what events intervened.

I’m no fan of Romney but I really see no problem with him speaking on this.

The media thinks they can point a finger when someone says "macaca" and then claim whatever they want.

It is yellow journalism. Nothing but.

In this case, it comes directly from the State Department. This is not the first time they have used Terry Jones as a scapegoat.

Why not blame South Park as well?

Guess that's why OBummer is campaigning in Nevada today, you know, respecting the gravity of the situation and all.

He's assiduously ignoring the situation while his media minions provide cover and launch diversionary attacks.

It won't work because it's Obama who owns this murderous "Arab Spring", not Romney.

Mitt has now crossed the Rubicon, there’s no going back, he needs to stay on the attack, damn the media. Articulate his foreign policy plan clearly.

This was not a tragedy, it was a foreseeable event in response to the administrations weakness and stupidity. A child could have foreseen an attack on the 9/11 following Osama’s killing particularly when the kenyans convention bragged about it 29+ times.

Romney’s response was clear, accurate, timely and adult.
