* Chairman of Joint Chiefs asks pastor to not support film
* Pastor agrees to 're-evaluate' showing movie
By Phil Stewart
WASHINGTON, Sept 12 (Reuters) - General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, called a Florida pastor on Wednesday and asked him to withdraw his support for a film whose portrayal of the Prophet Mohammad has been linked to violent protests - including one that ended with the death of America's envoy to Libya.
"In the brief call, Gen. Dempsey expressed his concerns over the nature of the film, the tensions it will inflame and the violence it will cause," Dempsey's spokesman, Colonel Dave Lapan, told Reuters.
U.S. military officials are concerned that the film could inflame tensions in Afghanistan, where 74,000 U.S. troops are fighting. The Taliban called on Afghans on Wednesday to prepare for a fight against Americans and urged insurgents to "take revenge" on U.S. soldiers over the film.
"He told me he had seen the film and that the film was pornographic ... and very, very bad. He asked me not to support it," Pastor Terry Jones told Reuters.
Jones agreed to "re-evaluate" his plans to show the film. "If the film is indeed pornographic, then, of course, as a Christian pastor I cannot support that type of film and could not show it," he said.

Maybe this general should tell Obama to stop his birth control mandate on religious institutions.
Its rather serious for the military to attempt to stop an Americans free speech especially about Islam. Muhammed marries a child, kills nonMuslims and nothing can be said about it while the govt gives grants to artists who desecrate the cross.
This guy is as much of a stupid dhimmi as Petraeus.
first why is a General calling a private citizen?
seconly, this has nothing to do with this Pastor.
Thirdly, this attack on our soil was nothing to do with a movie
Lastly
This is F=IN B/S.
If I or anyone wants to sound off and call their mohammed a child molestor and he is then tough crap , we have the first amendment and yes I refuse to say prophet or holy for the koran unlike the corrupt media
So if not this video, than something else.
the liberals and the radical left have taken control of our military, they got cross dresing legal, homosexuals to parade themselves openly and even let them get put into rooms and showers with normal men who they want to turd poke.
Sexual assaults last year went to a record high with 19,000 cases being reported and imagine how many have not for fear of an officer etc.
Romney has ot stop listening to the leitist old guard like Nonnan and stop this madness, stop all of this homo, PC liberal crap and take the military back, hell he can even cite the rapes and the bogus survey sent out as well as all the problems this has caused
Not anyone's proudest moment, especially since they are now admitting that the damn film had nothing to do with (surprise) 9/11 attacks on American interests.
Go to hell, asswipe.
That little fact puts a whole new light on this subject.
Its not important to me one way or the other.
I sent him a message on Face book. “Hey Asshole. Why do you stop being so concerned about snubbing out the first Amendment and start going after the people that are really a threat to our Country. Our Government. You took an oath to the Constitution, not to the President! You are not a true warrior, many millions of vets will turn their backs on you now”.
The trailers are on YouTube, and the movie looks REALLY bad. Bad acting. REALLY bad effects. And just from the tiny bit in the trailers, it will REALLY make muslim heads explode! It makes Mad-Mo look like a total fraud and scumbag.
I found this on YouTube, made up of a bunch scenes from the movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5twYZR8N62k

Dempey can eat crap and bark at the moon. He’s violating his oath of office.
You know - that pesky “defend the Constitution” part.
He needs to resign - NOW. He should’ve resigned when he was told to do this.
If he doesn’t resign, he’ll just confirm that he is without honor.
Correct.
My point was if the muslims want to blame all this on some stupid video/movie/whatever, it was the Egyptians who inflamed themselves by airing it.
A top military offier, particularly under the current regime, is little more than a political spokesperson for the regime. But either way, it is MOST DEFINITELY IMPROPER for a military officer (or anybody in government service) to critize or complain about any American citizen exercise his or her right of free speech.
Extremely improper.
(Regardless of how good or bad the movie or book may be.)
Period.
End of file.
We need an immediate retratction and apology from the good officer, or, regrettably, an appropriate action to make sure it is clear for this offier and others similarly situated that free speech by American citizens is off limits to military or political criticism.
Other than that, I wish to thank the officer for his service defending our country, but this kind of interference in private citizens’ constitutional rights has to be ended, and soon. There is way too much of this sort of thing being done to us in this country in the last 3 or 4 years...
It is bad when Islamic Terrorists kill and maim based on a film about Mohammed
It is even worse when our US Military, Government, and Media (including GOP Media) cower to the Islamic Terrorists and try to have said movie banned
I remember when we court-martialed, for treason, military leaders who blame civilians for the way foreign terrorists are acting
Isn’t the general’s actions violations of the UCMJ and unbecoming of an Officer in the military?
Hey Dempsey, quit worrying about Pastor Jones who never murdered anybody and get your sorry azz over to Libya, find the godless muzzies who killed our ambassador and then kill them back.
