Mitt Romney Defends U.S. Constitution against Sharia

By Mr. Curmudgeon:

"America will not tolerate attacks against our citizens and against our embassies. We'll defend also our constitutional rights of free speech and assembly and religion," said GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in remarks to the press while campaigning in Jacksonville, Florida. "We stand for the principles our Constitution protects. We encourage other nations to understand and respect the principles of our Constitution, because we recognize that these principles are the ultimate source of freedom for individuals around the world."

Having established the fact that Americans are not obligated to respect the totalitarian ideology known as Islam, and are free to criticize it in any way they deem fit, Romney assailed the Obama administration's limp-wristed response to the recent attacks, "I also believe the administration was wrong to stand by a statement sympathizing with those who had breached our embassy in Egypt, instead of condemning their actions."

"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo," the statement read, "condemns the continuing efforts by misguided [American] individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims - as we condemn the efforts to offend believers of all religions."

But Romney could just as easily been responding to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's statement on the death of U.S. Ambassador John Christopher Stevens, "We reject all efforts [by Americans] to denigrate the religious beliefs of others ..."

Both references to "religion" referred exclusively to Islam.

In a recent speech on religious freedom, Secretary Clinton expressed concern over "majority Muslim countries" where "violence against Muslims who are in minority sects" was what "we most worry about." She made no mention of Christian minority populations brutalized under these same majority Muslim states.

The absurdity of the administration's kowtowing to Islamic sensibilities reached out-of-this world proportions when Obama's NASA administrator, Charles Bolden, announced a new initiative to compensate for America's mothballed Shuttle fleet."Foremost" in the space agency's reconfigured agenda was "to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering," said Bolden.

A necessary ingredient to help Muslim nation's "feel good" about themselves is American self-censorship, least we run afoul of sharia law. Submission, after all, is the English translation of the word Islam.

The First Amendment protects our speaking freely, no matter how irreverently. Muslims don't have to like it, and free Americans are naturally predisposed not to care one way or t'other. After all, we subject our fumbling leaders to ridicule on a regular basis.

Let us hope that when Mitt Romney becomes America's 45th president, he'll break the shackles of stupidity forged by George W. Bush when, shortly after the attacks of 9/11, he said, "The face of terror is not the true faith of Islam. That's not what Islam is all about. Islam is peace."

Not many Americans buy that tired line these days ... and they are willing to say so openly.

The American government is obliged to protect American rights no matter who is offended by our freedoms. The views of George W. Bush and Barack Obama notwithstanding, that was the lesson of 9/11.

“That’s not what Islam is all about. Islam is peace.”

Islam and its enablers are quick to trot-out that hoary old chestnut, immediately following some fresh slice of hell perpetrated by easily offended, hysterically violent shouting mobs of muslims.

There’s no reason for Islam’s victims—here, America again—to be parroting Islam’s propaganda, particularly our leaders. And they can drop that `good muslim/bad muslim’ shell game, too. That’s the latest MSM cover for their boy.

Actually we have a lot in common with muslims.
They all want to go to paradise, while most Americans want to send them there.
This is a `win-win’ situation. We can make this work.

How did we get to a state of affairs where the Constitution needs to be defended against Sharia in the first place?

With these trends in place, 50 years from now, I am not sure this country will be worth living in. I won’t likely be around then, but I am really afraid for my children.

I hope you are right, but I don’t see much hostility toward Sharia in Romney’s statement. The self described “severe conservative” just doesn’t send a Thomas Jefferson tingle up my leg.

“We can make this work.”

The sooner, the better, if Western Civilization is ever going to survive against this vile cult of madness, mayhem, and murder.

I don’t think there is one iota difference between Islam and Muslim. There isn’t a Muslim live I would trust at my back.
