Dr. Zubrin is my favorite mad scientist. To be honest every era needs one, or at least an engineer of vision. Brunel, Tesla, Von Braun, Newton, they were all a bit off, but every one had the big ideas that moved a generation.

The EPA has morphed into the fourth branch of government and in the process, has greatly nullified our system of representative gov’t.

EPA is staffed by anti-capitalists who seem to gravitate to regulatory gov’t jobs.

Yes, indeed!

The EPA is extra-Constitutional, counterproductive and eminently stifling.

Environmental issues belong to the several states, clearly.

This behemoth needs to disappear.

I was going to check if it was the Mark Zubrin I was thinking of, but the length of his screed said it all.

Mark is good and smart and enthusiastic. He can't do 'to the point' for crap.

He is, of course, right.

Someone should ghostwrite for Mark and bring it down to something that someone besides PhD candidates will read.

Someone took their lunch money when they were in school and they’ve been seeking to get even with the world ever since.

He's great. He needs an editor if he's going to get read by many.

He doesn't need a keeper. He needs to remain off the leash, and frothing. He seems to do his best work when he's intense.

The EPA has become a modern gestapo.

Land and capital are taken by administrative fiat with out any apparent legal check or balance.

Were llevrok president for a day, this agency would be my first closure. IRS would be No.2.

Romney won’t do diddly squat to curb the EPA or the Dept of Energy, Education, et al.

Can we get someone with a spine in office?

I would say half are standard issue FedGov slugs who just follow orders to collect a bloated paycheck. If they have to eff up your industry to do it they could care less. If they put coal fired plants out of business and jack up your electricity bills they could care less. I'm sure EPA is full of unqualified AA hires of all stripes  --- blacks, gays, lesbians, feminazis, blind, handicapped etc etc

Yes, he is my favorite too. I always thought he wasn’t playing with a full deck, but now I suspect he just has 2 decks.

That other guy, Machu Piccu or whatever his name is is my second favorite, I suspect he’s a bit nuts too.

It will be great to be rid of Obama and his Marxist cabinet secretaries and czars.

But, as the Anti-Federalists said, freedom cannot be secure if it depends on the character alone of those chosen to govern.

In the big picture, Romney will not support the elimination or even trim the wings of a single agency. He will, as Newt predicted, “manage our decline” as he works with the hapless rino Congressional leadership.

“the EPA has arrogated to itself the right to control vast areas of American life. “

I don’t favor reform, I favor abolition

BUT

The EPA has not arrogated anything to itself. The EPA exercises powers delegated to it by Congress, and Congress, not the EPA, is the root of the problem.

I was interested, before things got so much worse, in how to get rid of the EPA, I even had a crack at drafting a statute to do just that.

Unfortunately, you are correct. The EPA does nothing not either permitted by, or required by, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and related legislation, the Endangered Species Act, etc.

These broad statutes are the problem, and unless they are repealed, nothing will change.

The EPA was not even created by statute. There is no “EPA enabling act”. The EPA was created by executive order (guess which party) to streamline and simplify enforcement of a torrent of laws passed by Congress in the 1963-1969 period.

The LAWS are the problem, not the entity designed by the President to enforce them. Change the laws, solve the problem.
