4 hours of fire and chaos: How the Benghazi attack unfolded
CNN ^ | 12 September 2012

Inside a safe room of the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, Ambassador Chris Stevens took cover with two other foreign service officers.

Just minutes earlier, a group of heavily armed militants launched an attack on the complex, pelting it with gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades.

The attackers ignited a fire in the building and the safe room was filling with smoke.

Stevens, Foreign Service information management officer Sean Smith and a U.S. regional security officer would soon be forced to leave their temporary refuge from the assault.

Senior administration officials called the conditions inside "awful," describing "incredibly thick smoke and fire."

The officials, while still trying to piece together the details of how the Tuesday night consulate attack unfolded, began Wednesday to give a clearer picture of events.

I guess I'm not understanding why this consulate was so lightly defended. And a battle raging for 4 hours ... that's not some disorganized group of protestors.

History repeating itself?

In 1979 we had a weak president -- Carter -- who invited attack of our embassy in an Islamic country. The Muslims knew Carter would do nothing.

Now in 2012 Obama's failed leadership has inspired Islamic radicals to attack not one, but two embassies on the anniversary of 9 11.

This is one of those times I really wish we had the British form of government and Obama would have to face “Question Time” for his mishandling of the Middle East.

The reality of war sucks. It smells bad. It sounds bad.

The US failed. We, the people failed, since the government is ours, regardless of what the government thinks.

I may be wrong but I do not believe it is policy to put Marine guards in consulates. Only embassies have a Marine guard. Although I would have no objection if these thugs just happened to meet up with a few F18’s. I wonder how long it would take to arrive in Benghazi from the nearest carrier?

What good is a safe room that fills with smoke?

A question for the number one mission of the US State Dept. under one, Hillary Clinton, to secure our embassies. State was reportedly forewarned. Huge fail for Hillary Clinton. In enemy territory to have no Marines is tragic folly. Leftist diplomacy is hand holding. It is not serious and it is not up to the task in the Middle East to depend on enemy security to save your neck.

This experiment is over. Obama-Clinton are now history.

What did Obama know, and when did he know it. This was a planned operation, he had to know something, it was 9/11 afterall.

The linked video shows a guy giving short shift to the RPG-7 while discussing other more “powerful” rockets that may have been involved. It is probably not a case of power so much as guidance that made the other weapons more advanced than an RPG-7 which is still an effective weapon with various specialized warheads available.

” he had to know something,”

No he didn’t! He was skipping the daily security briefings for golf outings and campaigning. And Jarrett is too stoopid to respond correctly.

The President knew nothing.

He hasn't been to a daily intelligence briefing for two weeks, after all...

And from the bottom of my heart, I can say with a clear conscious "The hell with them too!"

If they were sincere in their support of the U.S. they’d renounce islam.
