U.S. Marines defending the American embassy in Egypt were not permitted by the State Department to carry live ammunition, limiting their ability to respond to attacks like those this week on the U.S. consulate in Cairo.
Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson “did not permit U.S. Marine guards to carry live ammunition,” according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blogs spotted by Nightwatch. “She neutralized any U.S. military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.”
U.S. officials have yet to confirm or comment on the reports. Timemagazine’s Battleland blog reported Thursday “Senior U.S. officials late Wednesday declined to discuss in detail the security at either Cairo or Benghazi, so answers may be slow in coming.”
Why was a Republican House Committee not investigating this matter as of YESTERDAY?

Well, the anniversary of the Beirut Embassy bombing is fast approaching. Whats a few more dead Marines in the name of O’s foreign policy?
F*&^%*g Liberals! We had to fly our missions in Vietnam without being allowed to carry pistols in our survival vests because Johnson/McNamara decided it would be “too provocative” to allow us to defend ourselves. Liberals never change. They are traitors and liars.
If I was a embassy employee in say 50 years when potentially the next socialist democrat gets elected, I would retire immediately if that happened.
The Marines should throw the ambassador over the fence during the next attack if she’s the one who gave this order. Maybe they could take out a few terrorist if she has enough girth.
But, Homeland Security just bought 450 MILLION rounds of hollow-points to use against U.S. citizens.

UPDATE: A Marine spokesperson at the Pentagon denied reports that U.S. Marines defending the American embassy in Egypt were not permitted by the State Department to carry live ammunition in a statement to Fox News Thursday.
Pentagon Lt. Col. Chris Hughes told the outlet: “The ambassador and RSO (Regional Security Officer) have been completely and appropriately engaged with the security situation. No restrictions on weapons or weapons status have been imposed. This information comes from the Det Commander at AMEMB (American Embassy) Cairo.”
However Marine Corps blogs state that Marines were DENIED the use of live ammunition. Plus there was this:
Marc Toner, the State Department’s deputy spokesperson, did not respond to a request for comment from the Free Beacon. White House National Security Council spokesperson Tommy Vietor also did not respond to a request for comment.
So what is the TRUTH here?
I’d believe the boots on the ground over the White House or the Pentagon any day. Sad, but true.
