Veteran reporter Sharon Waxman knew she'd found a new low. Reporting from the Toronto Film Festival, she revealed the viewpoint of director Nick Cassavetes, which she summarized in a headline: "Who Gives a Damn? Love Who You Want." The topic was incest.
Hollywood's march to tear down -- to obliterate, really -- every boundary of sexual decency should compel even the harshest accusers of social conservatives like Rick Santorum to apologize profusely. They were wrong to mock conservatives for warning of the extremes, as we're lurching so quickly and easily into the darkest "love who you want" extremes of the Lifestyle Left.
Cassavetes is selling his film, "Yellow," which stars his ex-wife Heather Wahlquist as a beautiful woman addicted to pain pills. She travels back home to Oklahoma after being expelled from her teaching job in Los Angeles for "having broom closet sex on Parent Night." On her way home, she stops to visit her brother in prison. It results in an incest scene that we're told is "tender and affecting and signals no judgment of the relationship."
Cassavetes told The Wrap, "I have no experience with incest...We started thinking about that. We had heard a few stories where brothers and sisters were completely, absolutely in love with one another. You know what? This whole movie is about judgment, and lack of it and doing what you want. Who gives a s--- if people judge you?"
Then he arrived at what became the headline of the article: "I'm not saying this is an absolute, but in a way, if you're not having kids -- Who gives a damn? Love who you want. Isn't that what we say? Gay marriage -- love who you want? If it's your brother or sister, it's super weird, but if you look at it, you're not hurting anybody, except every single person who freaks out because you're in love with one another."
In a very real sense, he's right. This is where the slippery slope leads. Cassavetes said he wanted to portray a modern woman who is, in his words, "a rock star" and "a mess." He wanted "an exaggerated version of a girl who came from a place where different things are acceptable." In reality, he wanted a beautiful woman that viewers would find sympathetic, and then throw this shocking, "tender" incest scene in their face.
Don't think critics won't like it. A reviewer on Indiewire called this movie "officially the most refreshing breath of air" at the Toronto Film Festival. "So far, there is no news on distribution or when this thing is coming out, but as soon as it does, go out, don't take it too seriously and have a little fun with it."
Don't take the incest scene too seriously? Have fun with it? What -- chuckle?
Incest isn't the only grave sin that's being promoted by the cultural revolutionaries. Last fall, the major gossip website Gawker strongly attacked the social site Reddit for having a "Jailbait" subsection, which displayed sexualized images of girls of junior high age for "catering to pedophiles." So what is Gawker doing now? Catering to pedophiles.
This juggernaut website published an article on September 7 titled "Born This Way: Sympathy and Science for Those Who Want to Have Sex With Children." The writer, Cord Jefferson, cited "a growing number of researchers, many of them out of Canada, whose work suggests that pedophilia is an illness deserving of the public's sympathy the way any brain disorder is. Some of the scientists say pedophilia is a sexual orientation, meaning that it's unchangeable, regardless of how much jail time or beatings or therapy someone is dealt."
Where are the national media outlets that are still pounding their anvils on the front pages and TV segments against the Catholic Church and their struggles with pedophilia? Nowhere to be found.
Jefferson argued, "If pedophilia is a sexual orientation, that also means it's futile to send pedophiles to prison in an effort to alter their attractions. Doing so is akin to sending a homosexual child off to a religious-based institution that claims it can 'pray the gay away.'"
This jaw-dropping article concluded that the weakest in our society -- he listed blacks, women, Latinos and gays -- "are still in no way on wholly equal footing in America. But they're also not nearly as lowly and cursed as men attracted to children. One imagines that if Jesus ever came to earth, he'd embrace the poor, the blind, the lepers and, yes, the pedophiles."
Jesus would embrace every sinner ... who is ashamed of his sin. Shame and judgment have been banished in most of our pop culture.
Perhaps Gawker will next try and convince Nick Cassavetes to make his next daring indie film with "tender and affecting" scenes of pedophilia which "signal no judgment."

We do not send pedophiles to prison to change their attractions.
We send pedophiles to prison first to protect children from their predations. I don’t believe in rehabilitation can be forced on a criminal. They either want to change or they don’t. Prison is about punishment not changing people.
Secondly we to try to deter them from yielding to their attractions in the future.

Personally I agree with this and believe that if a man or woman is convicted three times or more of molesting children it should be a life sentence with no parole.
I am sad when I hear the mindless saying: “You can’t legislate morality.” We have always legislated morality.
This article shows where we are headed when we redefine marriage. Can a person marry his sister? How about brother or grandmother? The question is not do we draw a line concerning morality but rather where do we draw that line?
Maybe a child should be able to marry her grandfather - then when he dies the granddaughter could receive SS for life. Maybe she should marry many seniors and collect all of their SS payments for the rest of her life.
This fall in Maine we get to vote for the 4th or 5th time on homosexual marriage. God help us.
Every time a social more is overcome by the left, they move on to the next abomination. Our institutions and leaders long ago decided not to defend the moral standards of our culture which are one of the key foundations of our civilization.
The founders of this nation often wrote of virtue. While they were not always virtuous men, they seemed to genuinely aspire to lead virtuous lives. They understood the success of the free Republic required a virtuous and educated public as well as the leadership of virtuous men. Moral behavior could not be imposed by the government if the citizens would be free. It would be necessary for the leaders to set the standard through their behavior and the local churches to reinforce morality through teachings and peer pressure.
Unfortunately, today our leaders do not aspire to be virtuous. While I can easily imagine Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Madison, and Washington sitting in a tavern at night having some ale and engaging in a deep philosophical conversation about being virtuous and leading through example in no way can I see Boehner, McConnel, McCain, either Bush, or Romney engaging meaningfully in that conversation. Certainly Obama, Pelosi, Reid, the Clinton’s, the average Wall Street CEO, the bishops of mainline Protestant denominations, most academics, and all journalists wouldn’t have a clue as they likely spend zero time contemplating what it would mean to live a virtuous life. To be blunt, most of the leaders in public life have no standards of behavior for their own lives. It is easy for them to compromise invite the left in defining decency down. We see it on both sides of the political spectrum. For every Clinton there is a Newt.
When the history of our nation’s fall is written I believe the Clinton impeachment will be defined as the last chance our country had for its leaders to push back and halt the moral decline. Clinton violated his oath of office by perjuring himself in court as well as lied directly, and deliberately to the people about his socially immoral behavior. Clinton wantonly violated both the laws of men and the laws of God and showed no remorse. The House voted to impeach, but the Senate would not convict.
Clinton should have resigned in shame before the impeachment (like Nixon) but as an immoral man he felt no shame. Plus the majority of the American people, as well as the leaders of public and private organizations, failed to voice a strong feeling of outrage at the behavior of the President. The complaisant citizens no longer expected their leaders to aspire to high standards of personal behavior including obeying laws they swore an oath to uphold.
With Obama we again see our leaders failing to take action to stop his aggressive actions to define down decency and support those who seek the destruction of our society and way of life. We have regressed to the point our leaders have no standards of behavior and do not value freedom for the individual. They gladly trade their and our liberty for money and power over their fellow men. To them it is all a game and the only rule is the ends justify the means. No Congress that values liberty would pass the Patriot Act, allow the President to kill American citizens without trial, allow tax money extorted from the people to be used killing unborn children, or employ drones and cameras around the country to spy on its people. No government with integrity would permit millions of people to swarm across its borders, settle on its land and foray the citizens to financially support the invaders.
At this point it will take a total collapse of our civilization, and likely a thousand years of darkness, before liberty and virtue can be reestablished.

The slippery slope into unimaginable evil has gotten “slippery.” This article describes, in my mind, a great deal of what the lust for power at any cost is all about which is to justify the sexual abuse of whomever those people want to use, including children. If a dictatorship falls into place, no child will be safe from this kind of harm and punishment will be severe for those who resist compliance.
Incest and pedophilia, while not limited to the homosexual “community”, is definitely part of their agenda.

That is two too many victims before putting the pervert away forever. If proven without a doubt in court, one time is enough to remove the menace from innocent children.
Well, why not make incest and pedophilia OK? Homosexuality is now just fine. God condemns incest and homosexuality equally in the Bible. Can’t recall if He even speaks to pedophilia. If anything goes, then anything goes; it’s not fair to cherry-pick approved or taboo vices. /sarc/

When one pedophile surfaces, you can be sure there are many others lurking around. They gather in swarms to hunt kids....even going on kid hunts to toy stores. Keep in mind, these evil souless predators are amazingly persuasive — and take pride in their ability to dupe people without displaying their true nature.
People are easily taken in by these calculatedly charming, persuasive predators. Pedophiles entice their victims by gaining their trust.......the same way they get people to cover for them.
